" EruPii-Raws appears to have cut out 1.001s of black screen at the start of each episode."
Yep, I don't want one second of black screen at the beginning of every episode in my encodes. ?
@herkz are you 100% sure it's native 720p? At least according to the getnative results and [anibin](https://anibin.blogspot.com/2010/04/rainbow-1.html) it seems like descaling would be too risky. Anibin claims, assuming google translate was accurate enough, that the grain makes it almost impossible to determine the native resolution. The getnative output also seems completely fucked. On an undenoised input it seems to suggest native 1080p but then on a denoised input (waifu2x level 2 denoise) it seems to be literally all over the place. While I don't think it's native 1080p I think descaling would be a bad call as it's pretty much impossible to determine the correct kernel. [Here's a link to the getnative graphs and screenshot used as a source.](https://lensdump.com/a/IupsF/sub) I tried using other screenshots and they all produce similar results.
yeah, you don't have to descale. you can just downscale with spline36 or whatever.
and i doubt there's a single TV anime from 2010 that was made at 1080p. especially when you consider madhouse (the studio who made this anime) still make anime at 720p to this day.
For this project, because of the massive grain, I would agree that downscaling to 720p is almost necessary. You'll cut out a lot of "fake" detail that way and not a lot of real detail.
Currently sourced the blu-rays and am doing my own downscaled encodes. Current filesizes are hovering around 1.8~2gb. Should be similar in size to this release but without any denoising applied at all and should be pretty much 1 to 1 with a remux at 1/3 the filesize. Encodes speeds are at around 0.275x speed so looking at around 36 hours encode time. So expect another release of this in a few days.
its not that big :D personally i like to avoid downscaled upscales but the descaled stuff is fine. just feels like the quality will suffer for no reason
