DON’T use hardware decoding to play this or else you’ll get horrible artifacts. Uncheck HW decoding in LAVFilters and disable any other DXVA setting to ensure correct playback.

I rescaled it back to 1080p using debilinear+nnedi3 which produces a significantly sharper image compared to the BD as well as VCB-S and Yousei-Raws.

You said this in your first torrent. And I am going to ask you, from my limited knowledge about encoding: doesn’t that mean that you nuke a shitton of fine details as a consequence of the sharpening?

@Interruptor No, it doesn’t. I provided a screenshot comparison in my first torrent. Check for yourself. Also “sharpening” wouldn’t be the correct term to use here. If I just used a dumb sharpening filter the results would not look anywhere near as good. My method actually enhances fine detail without producing unwanted side effects like halos etc.

If I’ve learned anything from nyaa, it’s that “If it’s not being done, it’s probably for a reason”.

@Omotenashi I checked it and saw basically no artifacts compared to the other 2 releases, but I don’t have a trained eye either. I will give this a try. Thanks.

Regarding the Underwater/Commie track, are you starting with their TV releases (https://nyaa.si/view/654640) or using the subs from DESS? (The release at https://nyaa.si/view/410052, or Xonline/Datte13/CBT/KH/Mysteria’s releases?)
Pretty much all of the scenebleeds and broken fades in other BD releases of this show are derived from DESS’s doing a bad job of retiming. (though retiming TV subs to BD has its own challenges.)

@Interruptor https://guide.encode.moe/encoding/descaling.html
Rescaling is really common practice at this point though.

@REFERENCE_HERE
Subs were taken from Mysteria’s release. I noticed the scenebleeds and they have been fixed in my release.

bruh don’t drop this plz

4 is pretty much done. I’ll release it in a few days. Encodes up to episode 7 are finished. Just need to assemble the script.
