It's truly stunning how this anime adaptation absolutely exceeds the excellent source material on every level. I'm already getting depressed about the pause in 3 weeks. Could we just continue into cour 2 right away, please? PLEASE??

pretty sad that this is the AOTY when AOT is actually running the same season ;-) This is the only good anime this season though so my watchlist is short which is kind of good.

@Rowan, good list. Those're pretty much the highlights of the season. @sifadil, idk, but usually high production shows have them. I wouldn't at all be surprised if this one does aswell.

@man00ver Considering that the official English light novel from volume 1 to the most recent volume 7 were heavily censored and changed in English by a rogue editor that didn't like some of the source material, yeah, the anime is better https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-02-17/seven-seas-addresses-mushoku-tensei-classroom-of-the-elite-light-novel-localization-changes/.169582 The translators translated the light novels faithfully (they stated this on Twitter) but the editor (without telling them) didn't like some things so actually changed what happens in certain scenes or completely removed portions of text, making it hard to understand some parts and motivations of characters. Seven Seas (the light novel publishers in English) said they'd go back and change some of the volumes to what they should have been but who knows if they'll actually do it, or when that might happen. If you want to read the story in English I'd recommend the web novel which is basically the same as the light novel but isn't censored.

@qtpi - Thanks for the tip! I've actually been reading the web novel. I wouldn't know if anything is missing, but it's plenty coarse enough for my tastes, and doesn't lose anything to the anime in the smut department. To me it's excellent, if I didn't get that across before. I'm not done reading yet, but I'm well past the anime's story point, and I think this studio version is brilliant. Perfect, even.
