@Dattebayo_13 Hey man this file is great, 720 Original BUT is there also a 1080 original?(for the 110 episodes) Cuz im looking for it and havent found one yet! NAOKI has one but its not Original Blu Ray.
ill be thankful if u Respond!
Why is Fleet Admiral TLed as "Imperial Marshal" in these subs? It's a strange choice of localization, marshals should only exist in an army's chain of command, not the navy.
There are quite a few grammar mistakes in these subtitles and i'm only about 6 episodes in. It's pretty distracting when you have to re-read a sentence and make corrections in your head. This wasn't a problem in the old CA version - stick with that one if you like things to read smoothly.
So first of all, I edited/QCed these subs and I'm unaware of the "quite a few grammatical mistakes" you're referring to. But even if there were 100 blatant grammar errors in my/Sentai's script, it would still be the superior script. CA has a mass number of TL errors in the early episodes, so many as to make it unwatchable.
You can simply compare the first lines to see the damage CA has done to this show. The epic opener and tonesetter of "War touches every age. And in every age, war leaves behind only uninhabited wasteland" is replaced by CA's utterly boring (and utterly wrong) "In one corner of space, the war continues. In war, there can be only one victor. Space is an uninhabited wilderness and bloody wounds disappear with time." This last sentence is just a complete non-sequitur—what is it trying to say? How does it connect to the lines that just came before it?
Later, in the first scene where we see Adrian Rubinsky, we see him commenting on the upcoming battle between the Alliance and the Empire: (MTBB) "If victory is determined by numbers, then the Alliance forces will win. Although, no matter who comes out ahead, the specter of war won't dissipate that easily." CA's lines are: "This is just one of many battles which we must concede to the Alliance. The final victor is undecided. The clouds of war simply won't clear." The last two sentences are fine, but the first one is completely wrong, and the translator should have *known* it was wrong since Rubinsky would never cast himself as "conceding" battles to the Alliance—he's not their enemy or their ally.
Another example is 14:30 in 01, where CA butchers Yang's warning and what he's saying about the enemy's strategy. You'd never guess that Yang had keen military insight the way CA writes him in these early episodes.
I have no comment on whether CA's or Sentai's editing/prose is better. A lot of people prefer CA, and I haven't done a close comparison to make my own judgment. But the translation errors are a dealbreaker.
