Great combo. Many thanks.
Dude, you have created the very best release of Cyber City that exists on the internet, or in retail, even better than the long-standing Mottoj release. I tried to track down a russian source dvd disc for purchase a while ago, but couldn't find one, but now that you've done this, it really is the best. Even better than the bluray. Thankyou ever so much for this Ratman. BEST RELEASE AVAILABLE!
Thank you very much for this release it's excellent! i was really disapointed with the blu ray release so it's nice to see this dvd + hd audio release. Gorden_Bennett speaking of the motoj release that is a nice version too, i'm no video editor but i was playing around with his release using upscaling with waifu2x and adding some grain and sharpening in photoshop and imo it looks better than the blu ray release XD https://ibb.co/fQVpmLy
Nice. That screenshot looks excellent. May I ask what program you use to play about with upscaling and sharpening etc please? Photoshop is for still images isn't it? Is there a video software that you use for that? Id love to sit and have a go at that stuff myself sometime.
i used vlc to output some of the mottoj video into images, then i used waifu2x-snowshell to upscale the images on 2x upscale with high denoise preset, then i used photoshop (image editor) and used smart sharpen, resized the images to 1440x1080 and added some frames from a grain video i found as a overlay at 18% opacity. ideally you would want to be good at using a video editor such as adobe after effects, export all the video frames to images, then upscale them in waifu2x and import the frames back into after effects and add grain and sharpening etc there to make the final output video. im a noob but hopefully someone can use these ideas and make a decent upscale of it. Here is a few frames in motion i outputted in after affects but sadly it only plays in windows media player for me, i struggle with after effects as i have little experience with it. : https://ulozto.net/tamhle/hXHlUoxZnqDM btw the video is ultra short so set repeat on in windows media player.
Nice. That's looking really good.
Hi Ratman, I am really impressed with your work. This is clearly the best DVD source out there. Do you have link to the ISO or DVD folder for this source please?

I got it on the U2 torrent site if you have access.
Thanks. I have registered on a U2 torrent site, but cyber city search brings no results? I must have the wrong site. What's the web address please?

https://u2.dmhy.org/details.php?id=38671 The best way to search on U2 I find is to search by AniDB code and Exact (in this case a346).
Thanks. I ended up on some bootleg site for the band U2 by accident Lol I am guessing it is by invite only to join?
^ Yep, invite only and from what it seems, it's quite hard to get in. I assume there's some scumbag who is selling his account (which is illegal though what we're doing here and on similar sites so it is too), but if someone's willing to pay for it... It's his decision.
Can you not upload the original DVD on here please?

I'll think about it but why would you want it when nothing about it makes it better than whats in this torrent, it has no English audio/subs so I'd have to upload it to the raw category. The only difference is that it has a basic Russian DVD menu.
Russian DVD ISO is on rutracker
Thanks scav, ill go get it from there then.
Thanks Scav. It is a basic release like Ratman said, just Rus and Jap Audio with Rus Subs with no extras sadly. I have the original US and Australian DVDs, but they are no where near as good as this version. Is this Russian version taken from a Japenese DVD? I cannot believe I've been watching this crap when I could have been watching that! Can anyone recommend any other Animes I might like with good sources like this please?
@Sicario I don't have the Japanese Complete Collection DVD, but the Russian DVD video should be identical, but with the Complete Collection title card at the start removed (Blu-ray keeps the title card). I'm fairly certain that the Russian DVD is a port of the Japanese DVD because some of the DVD compression artifacts are still visible on the Blu-ray! Yeah, it's a "remaster" of DVD MPEG-2 encodes. I don't know if I should laugh or cry. ![image](https://i.postimg.cc/TdKRH8TQ/00000-m2ts-snapshot-00-21-22-740.png) ![image](https://i.postimg.cc/rm42ykmk/title-t00-mkv-snapshot-00-21-17-651.png)
Well spotted, makes me sick. I waited 20 years for this! I already complained to Amazon and going to complain to Alltheanime too! I'd love to get my hands on the original Japanese DVD source. Many thanks to Ratman again for his work ?
i complained to alltheanime by email and the response was laughable: ''Cyber City Oedo 808 was a restored upscale - that means there are certain things that were possible and some that weren't on this project with regard to image quality, as it depends on a lot of different factors. For a restoration of this nature, it naturally won't be comparable to a 4K rescan (for example), but as a whole it is still a marked improvement on prior releases in the English speaking world. This is the only master of the title being created, which was authored by a best in class authoring house with decades of experience working with anime, and will be used in both the UK and US markets. I hope this helps. ''
Yes, to re-package a DVD and upsell it as a Blu-ray at the price of £30 is very laughable! Especially if you compare it to other Blu-ray releases such as Ninja Scroll, Demon City Shinjuku and Wicked City. They all look amazing! You can even get the whole James Bond Blu-ray collection off Amazon for a mere £55! There just seeing Dollar and Pound signs. Have they even tried to request a new master or 4K rescan from Japan? I think not! I bought mine from Amazon, so complained directly to them.Yes, this is the same version set to release in the US in March.
FYI It’s best to watch this in MPV instead of VLC due to the way PGS subs work. As they’re in a 4:3 container, when played on VLC, they squash the subs, but when played in MPV, it displays correct.
Hi MD, thanks for the tip. That makes perfect sense since the blu-ray is encoded in 16:9 format. MPV, you mean Media Player Classic?
Does anyone know if there is a better version of Crying Freeman OVA collection than the US 3-disc DVDs?
@Sicario Nah, I use MPV. Maybe MPC could work, but as far as playing 4:3 BD content or materials, MPV works well. I watched a few Gundam shows through it and it works perfect. https://mpv.io/
Hi MD, I've installed MPV, seems to work really well thanks

PotPlayer is what I use and the subs appear correctly. If anyone uses Potplayer make sure to get version 1.7.18958 and disable automatic updates since they added ads after that version. https://www.videohelp.com/software/PotPlayer/old-versions
