Thank you~~ Your Mahoromatic Season 1,2 BDRip is great!! Do you have the plan to encode Mahoromatic Tadaima Okaeri Bulray?
The video is 60fps but the track comment says "[G7] JPBD [1080p H.264/MPEG4 Hi-10 9.2Mbps 23.976fps]". What was it on the BD?
Been waiting for this!!
@ElCid: Ok, yes a bit odd, but not as much as it may first appear. Here's the real deal with this encode: The BD Source was 29.970 MBAFF. This MBAFF format can be very tricky to encode and deinterlace. The encode was done in 2 segments: 1-OP & 2-Main Chapters+ED. The video is actually properly deinterlaced/interleaved to the normal 23.976 fps like any anime. But, there were unexpected issues with the OP deinterlacing, so the OP was done at double frame rate (59.940) to get it to playback smoothly. This is why when the two separately encoded segments are joined, Media Info will report a strange aggregate frame rate (fps) for the entire video. I did not like doing it this way, and I knew there would be some people wondering just what the heck had been done. But, this can happen with OP and ED segments sometimes, usually though with the ED scrolling text credits. In this case the issues were in the OP. Here is the source BD clip info: (FYI) Frame rate : 29.970 (30000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : MBAFF Scan type, store method : Interleaved fields Scan order : Top Field First
Thanks for the explanation. I figured it must have been 1080i, but the track comment confused me.
Yeah, I know. I guess media info reports the initial fps it sees in the vid, which in this case is 59.xxx for the OP. But, I notice it also reports the combined rate and labels it as 'variable'. Makes for a really screwy looking stat. It was all for a single 5 second set of frames, where I could not get the interleaved blending to properly reconcile at 23.xxx. When I tried the double rate it magically all was fine. It's a lot of extra work doing that for 24 episodes to eliminate just a few errant ghosted frames. It sucks when OP/ED segments are problematic. How come you didn't include the specials that came along with the BD? There should have been 12 specials.
