Yay! 8 bit AV1 for the win! The source is already 8 bit to begin with. Encoding to 10 bit would be pointless even if it could be played back fast enough. If you ever see banding, you can activate the debanding filter on your video player.

10 bit isn't pointless. It does have better compression, so much more bandwidth savings for the same quality. reduced banding is partially an effect of this I am probably going to move onto 10 bit next season. (maybe also cpu 2, depending on if i can convince people to run workers for me) (and if i even continue doing these lmao) it plays fine now for most computers and by then, av1 hardware decode will be available from all competing graphics chips.
