# Check comment section for futher fixes Fixed episodes can be downloaded on the [drive folder](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18cpAckm1xUQWtSufMOvjqVIIKBzlbPiW) Also, feel free to help checking one or more full Broadcast audio track of DBZ to find issues with that spreadsheet : [DBZ - Broadcast Audio checking](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RIPhCeNOTF84AITVM8l_7oFC28usxTLOWT-rQKaP3A4/edit#gid=0) ### **September 22, 2020 note** There's a minor issue with SoX patches in the lines of the following eps : 016, 023, 029, 084, 100, 240 It's just a missing 0 (e.g 0.80 instead of 0.080 so -800ms instead of -80ms). Just replace the two .bat files with the ones below. Thanks to Johnster for noticing that. [DOWNLOAD](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19jQQ0Zj5g-wpoNCgonZAwNQ4SB6A56lx) ### **DBZ - Broadcast Audio tracks synced to Dragon Box R2J + video-sync patches** ![alt text](https://i.ibb.co/C9FdMsW/Team-Mirolo.png) . . #### **Changelog from the previous torrent** : First of all, note that this torrent isn't really here to replace the previous torrent. It's basically the same content. Here are the differences : - New alternate folder with old Ishikawa and Tokai tracks synced (they were recently replaced by the new FujiTV tracks but it still can be useful if one want to have more versions) - No video synced tracks, but a video sync patch to apply with SoX (included). That way, you can only archive the audio-synced tracks to save 20GB filesize, and generate video-synced tracks as soon as you want. - Also, a second video sync patch, with "safer" delays (+70ms padding) is available, explanations below. - All the previous fixed episodes are now included in that torrent (on the previous torrent, you have to download them from gdrive links) - A SoX spectrogram generator batch is included if you want to have the audio spectrum of each track in png. To sum up, that's now the standard release, that is more convenient. . . . #### **What do you mean by "video sync"** ? : The Japanese Dragon Box Z DVDs have their audio tracks badly synced. Sound effects appears later than they should. On average, sounds effects appear 200ms too late. So the "audio synced" tracks matches the official Dragon Box sync (with it's flaws), and the "video-synced" tracks is the fixed version. In order to make it, we had to calculate the gap in milliseconds between many video frames and their respective sound effects, for both part one and part two of each episode. All delays can be found in an excel file : - [Download : Standard video sync delays - XLSX](https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_lrYaFTJT5hHACKok_It5FzY_rKItjBB&export=download) - [Download : Safer video sync delays - XLSX](https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1RyKhpzy8eCwBpLWuMpOqxyS8G9sbgmHS&export=download) The following image (episode 101) illustrate the difference between the official sync and our fixed sync : ![alt text](https://i.ibb.co/mzM4FWt/DBOXSYNC.jpg) #### **What is the point of doing a safe video sync version of tracks ?** Our standard video sync isn't based on changing scenes. If it was, the video sync would be pretty poor in regards to most sound effects (everything that concerns movement and impacts) Changing scenes can start by either a BGM, an SFX, or even voices. For example, in Scene 1, characters are talking with no SFX or BGM, then it's switching to Scene 2 with a flying plane and it's sound effects. On the standard video sync, you might hear the sound effect of the plane a very brief moment in Scene 1 (a few milliseconds) before the scene changes. It doesn't occurs very frequently, but it can happen. That safer video sync is here to better balance the global mix by trading off a bit of SFX accuracy. #### **What will happen when I run a patch ?** The patch will take the audio synced tracks as a basis and cut them in half between the two eyecatches, then it'll apply the video sync delays to each parts, join the two parts into new video-synced tracks with their own name. Every line of the patch is arranged to delete the temporary files for each episode before going to next one so that you don't need two times the filesize of all the tracks on your hard drive. Obviously, audio synced tracks won't be deleted. All instructions are included in the corresponding folder. Also, if you're interested in the new safe video-sync, you can just download the patch and use it to your audio sync tracks downloaded from the previous torrent. #### **What are the best tracks to use with my videos** ? : The best tracks in terms of audio quality are the following : - Episode 002 from Drama cassette (CD - Cassette folder) - Episodes 229 & 237 from Drama CD (CD - Cassette folder) - All remainings episodes in the main folder (not the Alternate one) . . #### **Notes** : - Opening and Endings are from Dragon Box Z R2J (way better quality than Original Broadcast, but not too much to make the episode quality sounds poor when watching). - We didn't applied any filter to the audio tracks, just synced them from the raw tracks (except for very bad episodes, like 192, with many clicks, where we had no other choice) - There are 40 next episode previews coming from Dragon Box because in the broadcast tracks, those episodes had short next episode previews mixed with another short preview for a coming movie or TV Special. However, we filtered those Dragon Box previews with iZotope to make them clearer. Those episodes are named with "DBOX NEP FILTERED" at the end. **_A huge thank to AnimeMaakuo and the Anonymous user here for sharing their Broadcast Audio tracks, to JySzE for his fixed encoding that allowed us to improve delays accuracy, and to everyone that helped directly or not_** . . . ##### **DOWNLOAD OUR RELEASES** ![alt text](https://images.weserv.nl/?url=https://i.ibb.co/w6CjCnx/DB.png) [Dragon Ball - Movie 1 BD-RIP ZIMA 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/film-video/animation/307255-dragon+ball+film+1+-+la+l%C3%A9gende+de+shenron-multi+bdrip+720p+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball - Movie 2 DVD-RIP FUNimation 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/456681-dragon+ball+film+2+-+le+ch%C3%A2teau+du+d%C3%A9mon-multi+dvdrip+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball - Movie 3 BD-RIP ZIMA 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/film-video/animation/309545-dragon+ball+film+3+-+laventure+mystique-multi+bdrip+720p+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball - Movie 4 BD-RIP ZIMA 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/film-video/animation/321782-dragon+ball+film+4+-+larm%C3%A9e+du+ruban+rouge-multi+bdrip+720p+x264-mirolov2o) [Dragon Ball - THE MOVIES 2018 (Movies 1-17) WEB-RIP 720p DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/548144-dragon+ball+the+movies+-+films+1+%C3%A0+17+multi+webrip+720p+x264v3-mirolo) ![alt text](https://images.weserv.nl/?url=https://i.ibb.co/7Sq6r1S/dfdfd.png) [Dragon Ball Z - DVD-RIP Broadcast Audio DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation-s%C3%A9rie/553077-dragon+ball+z+int%C3%A9grale+-+broadcast+audio-multi+dvdrip+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball - THE MOVIES 2018 (Movies 1-17) WEB-RIP 720p DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/548144-dragon+ball+the+movies+-+films+1+%C3%A0+17+multi+webrip+720p+x264v3-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - Movies 1-13 DVD-RIP Funimation 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/496982-dragon+ball+z+films+1+%C3%A0+13-funimation+43+multi+dvdrip+x264v2-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - Movies 7-11 DVD-RIP AB VIDEO 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/546983-dragon+ball+z+-+int%C3%A9grale+des+films+-+box+2-multi+dvdrip+x264v3-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - Movie 14 (Battle of Gods) BD-RIP DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/486686-dragon+ball+z+-+film+14+-+battle+of+gods+extended+multi+bdrip+720p+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - Movie 15 (Revival of 'F') BD-RIP DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/493256-dragon+ball+z+-+film+15+-+la+resurrection+de+f+multi+bdrip+720p+x264+aac+5+1-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - OVA 2 (1993) VOSTFR](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/290591-dragon+ball+z+oav+2+-+le+plan+d%C3%89radication+des+saiyans+1993-vostfr+dvdrip+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - OVA 2 (2010) BD-RIP DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/289012-dragon+ball+z+oav+2+-+le+plan+d%C3%89radication+des+super+saiyans+2010-multi+bdrip+720p+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - OVA 3 (2008) DVD-RIP VOSTFR](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/247419-dragon+ball+z+oav+3+-+salut+son+goku+et+ses+amis+sont+de+retour+2008-vostfr+dvdrip+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - OVA 4 (2011) BD-RIP DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/289027-dragon+ball+z+oav+4+-+episode+of+bardock+2011-multi+bdrip+720p+x264-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Z - TV Special 1 & 2 DVD-RIP DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP) Broadcast Audio](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/546553-dragon+ball+z+tv+special+1+2+multi+dvdrip+x264-broadcast+audiov2-mirolo) ![alt text](https://images.weserv.nl/?url=https://i.ibb.co/9vHYmR5/DBKAI.png) [Dragon Ball Kaï - Box 1 & 2 BD-RIP JAPANESE 4:3 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation-s%C3%A9rie/563923-dragon+ball+kai+-+box+1+2+multi+bdrip+43+720p+x264v6-mirolo) [Dragon Ball Kaï - Box 3 & 4 BD-RIP KAZÉ+Funimation 16:9 DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation-s%C3%A9rie/582666-dragon+ball+kai+-+box+3+4+multi+bdrip+720p+x264v2-mirolo) ![alt text](https://images.weserv.nl/?url=https://i.ibb.co/nCmxqJs/DBS.png) [Dragon Ball Super - Movie 1 (Broly) BD-RIP KAZÉ DUAL AUDIO (FR-JP)](https://www2.yggtorrent.si/torrent/filmvid%C3%A9o/animation/482950-dragon+ball+super+-+film+1+-+broly+multi+bdrip+720p+x264+aac+5+1-mirolo)j

Thank you for all your awesome work. Is this the final version or will you keep making some improvements? Also, do you plan on releasing SoX patches with padding delays for Dragon Ball as well?

@Johnster : That's basically the V3 files plus the fixed tracks from the drive, not a V4. Let's say it's now the standard torrent. It's always planned to be the final version, but who knows, if one day there's more Fuji tracks or other major improvement, I can't anticipate that (and if there's some minor issues inside episodes, the fixed files will be shared in DDL of course). As for Dragon Ball, we've already took that into consideration while assessing delays, so the delays we applied are a bit smaller that what they should've been (not 70ms though, about 40ms in average). If the occurences of changing scenes desync are infinitesimally small, there's no reason to do that for DB. A standard video sync patch is likely to happen though, for those who only want to archive audio sync tracks.
Roger that. Once again, thanks for all your hard work :D Edit: just as a curiosity, what method did you use to extract the tracks from the DVDs? Normally I used PgcDemux but then I found that MakeMKV gave me the same exact delays though with a lot less work on my part so now I prefer it by default. I was wondering which method you used so that I can compare the outputs (DVD audio vs your audio sync) and determine the delays I should add in order to make my own video sync Dragon Box remuxes. I think this info should prove useful to many other people.
@Team-Mirolo now one thing i noticed in previews v3 torrent is that 192 files are diferent. one says DBZ - 192 - Fuji - DBOX R2J audio synced [Team Mirolo]-DECLICKED.flac and DBZ - 192 - Fuji - DBOX R2J video synced [Team Mirolo] - DBOX NEP FILTERED.flac. so teh video sync has clicks in it and needs fixes? or this is wrong naming?

User
@Johnster : We agreed on using Xmedia Recode to remix audio from ISO to make it consistent. You can try and post the result with different methods. @correvlr : I answered on Discord but since it might be useful I copy it here : "No it's just naming, audio sync and video sync are the same declicked tracks (192 was very very very clicked)"

If you want to know the originally intended audio timing, the rebroadcasts on BS Fuji and Animax are the best references.
@nappa_believer Because they weren't or didn't feel like to track down all of them , I believe most of SOM trolls didn't believe in that . Besides , I don't think they would be a difference or at least a major one if any from the official sync TOEI put in their official DVDs .

Team-Mirolo (uploader)

User
@nappa_believee : I don't think that Animax or BS Fuji represent the "intended" delays from back then. First of all, there's no rule about sound effects sync, it's just a guy (Hidenori Arai in this instance) that add them when necessary and sync them with his skills (as he did with DB Kai more recently). Then, sound effects can appear sooner or later according to the sound designer working on them. It's just like subtitles on movies, in some it's accurately synced with voices, in some they appear sooner, in some after the voice started. As long as SFX feels natural it's perfect. But it's the entire mix of Dragon Box that sucks, If you fix one thing, it delays another.

User
@nappa_believer: except if you accept to share thoses "rebroadcast" anyway there's no way to get them and use the same "sync timing" i mean it's impossible for us that don't have "capper"
@Team-Mirolo I know all these production processes. The videotape masters that Fuji TV has were transferred from their film prints with their broadcast quality telecine machine. The optical soundtrack on film was directly dubbed from the original audio tape by syncing with each other. Such audio tapes have perforations just like film and are synced perfectly with footage. This represents the audio timing originally intended by Hidenori Arai. The soundtrack is recorded 26 frames prior to the footage because it's read in advance by projectors. Fuji TV played the film reels and recorded the outcome in real time, in a broadcast-quality way. It must represents the original timing of the optical soundtrack. You can tell how they transferred the footage because their masters suffer from frame blending unique to the traditional real-time telecine. I don't know how Toei butchered their Dragon Box masters, but my guess is that they scanned the film frame by frame and carelessly synced the footage with the audio which was separately recorded from the film. @DBM I think there's a lot of ts rips shared in here.

@nappa_believer: yes but no whole run , only some episodes so it's not whole run, it's useless syncing them all using fuji tv or animax required a whole reference for syncing ^^ so using thoses that lacra released, there is only 1-8 , 31 32 ,45 ,46,145 ,148,149,150,154,155,156,206,209,210,211,212,214,215,216,217,218,219,220,221,222,223,224,225,226,227,228,230,231,232,233,234,235,237,242,243,244,259,260,261,262,263,264,265,266,267,268,269,270,271,272,273,274,275,276,277,278,279,280,281,282,283,284,285,286,288,289,290,291 and there is no db (but it use dbox footage) and dbgt use dbox footage too so don't know if thoses two are "in sync"

User
@nappa_believer : Thank's a lot for that deep explanation that'll be useful for everybody. Does it implies that recorded videos from FujiTV (and Ishikawa/Tokai maybe ?) actually have the intended sync ? (even though recording can interlace and might screw things up). Also, is there a full rebroadcast planned for those HD Animax/BS Fuji soon ? We'd be ready to restart the whole process of video syncing Dragon Box to match the intented sync, if only we could have the full run of DBZ.

User
@team mirolo, even if it air again, you need someone to record them else you can't get them and it's very very very hard to get a capper more for db content

User
@DBM Then we just have to hope that someone will devote to that task for the community.
First of all, thank you Team M. As a constructive criticism, I would like to say that the problem with synchronizing the audio for further audio processing (dehum, denoise, declick, etc ...), is having fixed certain audio parts by using other audio sources, already that each audio source has different noise profiles (or other distortions) and mixing them makes it very difficult to eliminate them. I know the world of the fan is against filtering, but you have to start to know how to discern between filtering and ruining the audio. They are not synonymous words, good filtering does not imply ruining the audio. Therefore, in an audio production procedure there are several well differentiated stages: - Audio normalization - EQ procedures or similar (Limiters, etc ..) - Elimination of distortions (hum, click, clip, noise) - Synchronization - And what is currently being done is to apply a matching volume for all audios, according to various standards, for example: ITU-R BS.1770-3, ATSC A / 85 or EBU R128. With this, I don't want to destroy Team Mirolo's work at all, but I do want to make it clear to anyone who dares to do mastering work on this material. PD: Not enough seeders.

Team-Mirolo (uploader)

User
@overdrive : I agree, filtering can be slight and useful like removing clicks or denoise a bit. But those tracks aren't really here to be filtered but to be to used as they are. There's no real common ground for filters, at this point it's better to just have raw tracks. Everyone can do what they want then. Thankfully, we know from the original sources which tracks were complete and which weren't, which is a minority, so filters can still be appplied to most of those tracks.
I'm glad to read that, in case my work and family allow me to edit the audio one day. Greetings and thank you.
@Team-Mirolo, Thanks for your reply. I made some tests and, even though of course I didn’t check every single episode, in general Dragon Ball episodes ripped with PgcDemux or MakeMKV have their audio delayed by about +32ms with respect to your audio-synced files, but Dragon Ball Z episodes have no such delay. The exceptions seem to be DB episodes 131 (no delay), 132 (no delay), and the infamous 138 (no delay if ripped with PgcDemux, but then it will be out of sync with the video after you mux it with mkvmerge; MakeMKV takes care of that issue, but then in the broadcast audio file you’ll have to cut 659ms worth of silence right after the opening for it to be in sync with MakeMKV’s output). In addition, there’s some extra variation throughout each episode which typically does not exceed +/-10ms (which is probably the margin of error you chose). This is of course substantially less than the duration of a single frame, and much less than what can be noticed by any human, so there’s no problem here. So, for anyone doing their own Dragon Box remux with PgcDemux+mkvmerge or MakeMKV, I would advise adding a +32ms delay to the *video*-synced broadcast audios for Dragon Ball and no delay for Dragon Ball Z. Keep in mind that you should check each episode beforehand, because as I said I didn’t check everything in this limited testing but already found a few exceptions. To be honest, though, 32ms is really nothing (about 1 audio frame and 1 29.97fps-video frame) and it is most likely you won’t notice anything, so it in the end all this extra work is completely optional (except for the critical case of DB episode 138).
If I may ask, are MKV rips of the show, ripped using MakeMKV, fine to use for the SoX patches? EDIT: These don't seem to automatically mux audio into files like I thought. Oof.
Use MKVToolNix to mux the audio @Donkey_Kong

Team-Mirolo (uploader)

User
@Johnster : The thing is that there's also the video stream. One can remux an ISO with whatever, then convert it with FFMpeg,or Handbrake, or MeGUI. Another can convert it directly from a mounted ISO in whatever software. In some case, you can have a resulting video that is slightly different (1 or 2 frames - and a frame is 42ms for 23.976fps). So yeah unless everyone agree on a way to remux and encode video + audio or on a common source, the sync could be a bit different. @Donkey_Kong : Yes SoX patches just generate video-synced tracks from audio-synced tracks, that's all.
Just to remind people, my Z batch will have whatever the most up-to-date video-synced version of Mirolo's audio there is in it.
Just video sync and not the "Safer" Sync?
yes, not the original sync, not the safer sync.
@Team-Mirolo, I found an issue with the patches. It can be fixed very easily and quickly, but it’s very important. Episodes 016, 023, 029, 084, 100, and 240 have an incorrect trim being applied by the SoX patch, both in the normal video-sync version and in the 'safer' version (there’s a 0 missing right after the decimal point). I didn’t check the files in the 'Alternates' folder, but everything else appears to be working properly. Also, this got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be preferable to keep the opening of each episode with the exact same audio delay? Because since the video sequence is indeed always the same, presumably the audio sync should be kept the same as well, instead of sharing the delay with the respective episode’s Part A. This concern applies to both DB and DBZ; IIRC, GTeam did that with their DBGT sync. Do you think it’s worth it to fix this with the SoX patch method? That way iKaos could use that version in his project.

Team-Mirolo (uploader)

User
@Johnster : Right, I don't know why there's a missing 0 for those, since all 291 values has been copied from an excel file with proper values for every episodes hmm... I put the fixes on the description thanks a lot. It made me think that it's a better idea to have video sync patches on DDL links rather than inside the torrent to edit the video sync on the fly. I'm not sure if I get it, are you telling that it's better to do, for example : Opening 0ms delay Part A -200 ms delay Part B -180ms delay Ending + NEP 0ms delay ? It'll complicate things like syncing subs, because instead of syncing two halves of text, you should just select the dialogue after opening and before eyecatch. Also, if the whole Part A (PEP + Episode) have the same delay value, the Opening is likely to have the same delay as well. Tell me
@Team-Mirolo, Thanks for the fixed patch. What I meant is that, since the opening is actually the same DVD cell for each episode, the delay should be always the same across all episodes (at least for episodes that belong to the same DVD, but hopefully it stays the same for all episodes of each animation sequence). So suppose, for example, that we can determine that the opening audio needs a shift of -100ms. The delays should be something like the following: Episode 001: — Opening: -100ms — Part A: -110ms — Part B: -90ms Episode 002: — Opening: -100ms — Part A: -150ms — Part B: -150ms And so on. I don’t know about the ending and the next episode preview, but maybe they have different delays as well. Now, to be sure, since there are no sound effects nor mouth flaps to sync in the ending and the NEPs, this is unlikely to be a huge issue for the viewer. And, at the end of the day, the same might actually be true of the opening also. But I am bringing this to attention because it was a huge eureka moment for me when I saw GTeam’s GT sync: the music starts playing exactly when the GT logo appears, something which doesn’t happen with the Dragon Box; the effect was quite noticeable TBH... perhaps something similar may be true of DB and DBZ openings?

Team-Mirolo (uploader)

User
@Johnster : That's a good question. In a way, it will make easy to have one and only one sync for OP/ED subtitles and also Karaoke. But on the other hand, it'll make the manual video-sync harder (cutting four parts and applying four delays) as well as shifting subtitles. Idk maybe that could be a thing in the future if we have time to explore that deeply.
Alright! But like I said, it’s always possible the difference might end up not being noticeable to the viewer. If that’s the case then of course there’d be no point in devoting a tremendous amount of time to such a project! You would have to check whether there’s any scene transition or some other cue that immediately stands out and starts making more sense once the audio gets shifted by a certain amount. It clearly was the case with GTeam’s GT, but then again, there’s no guarantee anything similar is also true of DB and DBZ.
