THIS TORRENT HAS BEEN HIDDEN, but if you've bookmarked it then here's a brief explanation as to why.
A commenter discovered that the screenshots we used to represent the encode did not actually represent what we released. After some brief analysis we noticed that this was correct. The screenshots we presented came directly from avspmod, but for some reason this did not translate to the encode. We speculate it is either an issue with ffmpeg or that avspmod was not displaying properly and therefore the final export does not represent our intentions.
We (JySzE, really) are working on fixing the issue and will release a v2. The separate fix torrent will also be rolled into this. We apologize for any inconvenience but we want to make sure the product we are distributing is accurate to our intentions and that we have no false advertising.
Thank you to Roswell57 for pointing out the error, and thanks to all of you for the support. The v2 will be released ASAP.
IKaos, the man, the myth, the legend has done it again!! Thank you! The DB fandom has now been elevated once again to new heights with another SoM amazing release. The SoM crew rocks!
Thank you to everyone involved. Back in the ADC days, I was happy with a subtitled released for DB, now, nearly two decades later, my dream release became a reality. Seriously, I thank you all for the hard work involved here.
Retard just go watch some trash 70 MB encode no one cares. Manz even addressed the whole bloat shit but you still feel the need to complain. If you have these urges to complain about shit I suggest signing up for twitter.
Awesome job and thank you very much for your contribution to the community. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
1. Will any Dragon Box synced audio tracks sync perfectly with your encode?
2. Did you add the NEP for episode 153?
3. Have you changed your mind on GT at all? If not, would you at least consider doing Team Mirolo style Dragon Box syncs for the released broadcast audio found here?
https://nyaa.si/view/1230042
4. Will you consider doing similar "As close to remux quality bit rate wise as can be" encodes for Z and GT (If you are going to do that one after all)?
5. Did you do any remastering on the 2 public service announcement videos or are those straight up encodes?
Thank you for any answers in advance!
Woah, thats really great man, thank you and everyone involved in this high quality release.
I really hope you do the same with dbz, the highest release possible regardless the size. Don't get me wrong i really love your encodes, but nobody can do this ultimate high quality for db series other than you, and this release is an example for this, so hope you guys will use your talent for doing this high quality for dbz and gt (just the necessary filtering without trying to compress the size )
Thank you for everything you are doing for the db community.
And wow, a color correction is being planned, seems like a dream come true.
Nice!
`Again, the intention was to retain video quality so as to essentially replace remuxes as a source.`
> This is so bloat it’s not even funny.
> Bloat means the size is too big which it is. I will wait for a smaller encode.
Imagine commenting on a torrent with 'straight porn' in its description complaining it's too heterossexual and therefore you are waiting for a gayer release.
That's you.
Thanks for the positive comment spam.
@Metaridley Specials will be done with their respective series (like how I did the 2 DB specials here), movies will be released separately later on. Work is progressing on those and Z concurently.
@notaretard not really helping yourself with that name, but I went over the reason for the size in the description. I even said I'd do a smaller batch eventually for people who I knew would bitch. Thanks for not reading though. Also bloat means it's too big for the quality you're getting, which literally isn't true. It's fine to think it's too big for yourself, but that doesn't mean the size is excessive relative to the quality. There are literally paragraphs about this in the description.
@Damned
1. Yes, any Dragon Box sync would work. Any other country's dubs should sync easily provided they are R2J synced.
2. YES, can't believe I wrote my whole description and I didn't mention that. Episode 153's NEP (the DBZ preview) is added at the end of the episode. I use Deli's reconstructed version that also appears in the extras.
3. I have no personal investment in GT, however SoM is working on it. Whether or not I'm the face for that release or if someone else does it is up to the group.
4. So Z has something special planned in terms of the video, which I can't get into too much (not because it's a secret, but because it's technical), but suffice to say it will also be quality based and a definite upgrade from my previous work, even for S9. Like with DB I will do a second version that is more size-conscious, since I don't trust anyone else to do it properly.
5. The two Safety specials went through the same process as the episodes, although those actually looked pretty good already, so you might not notice a big difference.
@bkaraki If quality is what you want, quality is what you will receive with us.
OH MY OH MY OH MY OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HUGE Thanks to iKaos, JySzE, Romao, Team Mirolo and everyone else involved.
Thanks for making a remux quality encode. Those comparison shots are really looking fantastic. Considering this encode is fixing a lot of problems + the fact that it retains the source quality really well judging by those screens thanks to the generous bitrate and good encoding, I would say this is better than a remux itself! And this is coming from a remux lover.
Amazing release! Thanks for keeping the pixel-perfect quality. Cant thank you guys enough!
@notaretard I see your bitch ass complaining on every single torrent SoM makes because they are actual quality and not shitty x265 encodes a majority of the users on this site eat up lol. If you want low quality Dragon Box get DBNL
@Impakt
I truly wanted to include the Blue Water dub. But the truth is, it's so tedious to sync that it would take months to do so. It's not a simple process like syncing other dubs. It requires a ton of manual editing, cuts and splicing together and while I would like to do it at some point, we could not keep stalling this release even more than we already have.
@tacoballz
I would love the LATAM dub as well, but currently there is no complete high quality release of it that makes it worth including. I'd rather wait till we get better sources of audio before taking the time to sync them. This is mostly for Z since they're releasing the broadcast audio for LATAM, but it applies for all series. In the meantime, you're free to mux in any R2J-synced LATAM tracks yourself.
I'M CRYING Y'ALL!! I'M IN FUCKING TEARS!!!
iKaos & team, you guys are GODS! This is beyond perfection. You guys have my utmost love, respect, and admiration.
Dragon Ball, let's go baby!!
@iKaos thanks for the info. Will be the Movies in 4.3 or 16:9? i would prefer 4:3 because it was the most filled picture without cuts. Also about the Specials like Atsumare Gokus World and Plan to Eradicade the Saiyans (the old one). Any encoding improvements on them for the Z Release? (Because Atsumare is just VHS Quality and Plan to EtS has not the best Dragonbox Release quality, but one dude encoded a 1080p version back in the day. But he modified the video and removed some parts, thats why i prefer still the old sub versions)
I had to create an account just to say thank you for putting so much time and effort into this release. This is now the be all end all way to watch Dragon Ball. It is kind of a shame that Toei and Funimation do not seem to care as much about, what is truly, their flagship show. You guys even took the time to fix some of the issues that plagued the Dragon Boxes. It's the kind of work a major company should of done, but refuse to so the fans had to come together and create the best it could be. Thank you so much and cannot wait for the Dragon Ball Z complete batch.
@dannymx As far as I know LATAM dub of Dragon Ball hasn't been released in high quality on Nyaa yet. Once that happens LATAM dub will be included in the future in the SD Blu-Ray project so stay tuned when that inevitably releases (won't be for a long time tho). But don't worry SoM isn't ignoring the LATAM community since to a lot of people even English speakers think the LATAM dub is a very good dub so we really do want to preserve it, but again we don't have high quality sources for everything yet, and this torrent has already had crazy delays so delaying it further for another dub seems pointless when we don't have good sources for it yet.
Thank you iKaos and everyone involved in this release for all your painstaking hard work performing legitimate restoration to the video footage while not compromising on the detail and grain of previous remuxes. Plus the BA/extra audio options and revised subs.
@tacoballz: why an american that share something he did for himself, should sync a foreign dub that he probably totally don't care about ?
it's incredible how much people here are complaining about things they should do themselves
if you want latam dub sync on it, download the release, download or find latam dub and sync them yourself, if you don't know how to do it, then just go google, search and learn. nyaa is not a company where people want and others do
@notaretard, it's "lossless" so not bloated , if you want crappy encode 200mb with mp3 audios just go in spanish or latino forum, there is plenty rmvb or 70mb crappy encode that would do your job or better...encode it yourself
@ikaos why not using the other banner^^?
@ JySzE
Eh, no one's complaining the Spanish dub should be included (there's a community that does it anyway), but there's folks here going on about the Latin Spanish dub. Curiously, they don't even bring up the Zero dub.
Thank you so much for this tremendous effort! This is exactly what I have been waiting for. I especially love the PAR correction, however I think it might have gone wrong in the Specials. I've made a comparison with the DVD-RAW files from an earlier release with the Volitank Remux.
[TV Special 1](https://slow.pics/c/PoabHxLs)
[TV Special 2](https://slow.pics/c/QXOl9aLm)
Not something serious that should be fixed right away, but I thought I should mention it. Please continue what you and the rest of SoM are doing. You are doing such great work!
Well I am glad there is now a good quality version of the whole series since Pendekar never finished their run and that was Pre-Broadcast Audio being released.
@Impakt that gif is just a generalization of what you will see alot of in DB torrents lol.
@Mythrill Good eye! The Safety Special 1 and 2 were quick things we had did at the end of working on ep 1 - 153, We had assumed it shared the same PAR and actually had checked everything but that for the Specials, I will upload a V2 of the Specials and post the DDL here (iKaos hit the character limit on the description lol).
Indeed, very good observation by my man Mythrill!
Also I've read the PAR wiki page twice and some other articles but I'm still not understanding a single thing about what the bloody hell it is lol
people complain about missing dubs in db releases? i not even seen the german dub from the kaze dvds on the internet lul just be glad that someone shared the project anyway
>people complain about missing dubs in db releases?
Who's complaining about missing dubs? I mentioned the lack of the latino dub in this release, which would've made it perfect, wasn't even slightly complaining or demanding the author of this upload to add it.
>I mean to be fair if they include latino dub, what about russian, chinese, etc.
Because NOBODY cares about those dubs? Fact is, the latino dub is one of the best, if not the best dub right after (obviously) JP, Masako Nozawa probably agrees with this too. The popularity and QUALITY (translation, localizations) of the latino dub is just so good it can't be ignored. The amount of people in the world who loves the Dragon Ball/Z Latino dub surpasses any other language. The english dub(s) for Dragon Ball/Z has always been a mess, how many are out there? People can't even decided which one is the "best". You don't have that problem with the Latino dub, there's just ONE and it's really good. So for archival purposes it should always be considered, if the author of this upload didn't have time or was interested in it, that's FINE. He did a great job with this release and hopefully he or somebody else (with plenty of time) considers the latino dub for a future release.
And let's call it **Latino dub**, not LatAm or Spanish. LatAm is a geographical area, by saying LatAm sounds like you're excluding the millions in the US (or any other non-latam country) which watched the Latino dub. And Spanish is a little ambiguous as there's also the bad Spanish dub from Spain.
Like I said, I'll consider the Latino dub once higher quality audio becomes readily available for syncing. Till then you can mux whatever low quality R2J syncs are out there yourself (and there are tons on the web). I'm the first person to fight to include for that dub in particular, but the reasons for its exclusion here are valid enough. It's just a waiting game now though... Also, don't feel so attacked, the comment about people complaining about missing dubs is not directed towards you, but to a large number of people who spam comments on releases saying "oh this is great but pls add this dub" etc etc
Can't wait to watch the Dragon Ball anime for the first time with the Broadcast audio. Thank you so much to you guys for this project and to the people who shared the broadcast audio with the public :)))
I have no words left in the description (who knew Nyaa had a character limit), but there are some fixes here: https://nyaa.si/view/1281298
re: LATAM (isn't this the preferred term?), pretty sure other groups are working on it/haven't finished compiling sources for it yet. Dubudavid basically said it all. This is also the reason I didn't include the Blue Water English dub. If you want to argue that I included the HG dub despite it sounding like crap, do keep in mind that this dub was literally thought to not exist for the series until earlier this year. We're not gonna get better quality for it. Also try not to use stuff like "Nozawa would OBJECTIVELY say Latino is the best dub" because that's the same kind of arguments dub fans use to justify their boners for Faulconer. You can say it's a good dub without going that route since the quality speaks for itself.
Fuck me... currently doing a series re-watch with Utsukushii-Raws muxed with the broadcast audio and just finished up the Piccolo Daimao arc. Lmao. Guess I'll start from episode 1 again. Most likely being dead serious.
Deeply appreciate all the work that went into this release. You guys are incredible.
Not to be THAT guy but any timeframe for the series batch for DBZ? Also any plans for the movies?
EDIT: Downloaded a random episode near the end and noticed in the subs you've changed Kami-sama to God, I'm fine with the change but I'm so used to reading it as Kami-sama, lol. Out of curiosity what other names have you changed in DB and what will you be changing Kaio-sama and Kaioshin to if anything?
@SSJLuffy I did say I would do DB when Mirolo dropped their audio, lol. But a rewatch never hurts.
Z batch I'm looking at a few months probably, I'd assume before the end of 2020. Movies should be after that as they're being worked on concurrently.
So the "Kami-sama" -> "God" thing was actually kinda difficult for me personally since like most Americans I know the character as "Kami", and despite also knowing that his name literally means "God" in Japanese, I've always been used to seeing it as "Kami-sama" in subs. However when looking at the character and how he's referred to in DB it's pretty clear that "God" is the more accurate way to go, if for nothing else than preserving jokes like this one: https://i.imgur.com/wS9v2Je.jpg
As far as Kaio-sama and the like, their names will be rendered as is, since while they do translate literally to things like "Lord of Worlds", their names are made up by Toriyama, whereas "Kami-sama" literally just means God in Japanese regardless of the story. Hope that answers your questions.
Thank you very much! This is a beautiful dream. :)
Unfortunately I have problems with the fonts of OP, ED and episode titles.
Maybe it will be good, if I could download them.
Can you help me, please? :)
But he modified the video and removed some parts, thats why i prefer still the old sub versions)
@iKaos are the comparison shots you posted in the description taken from the actual encode? Or is it directly from the avs script prior to encoding?
The reason I ask is because I made comparisons of your encode to the remux and I'm not seeing the same level of transparency as seen in your comparison shots.
For reference, here is your comparison from the description:
https://slow.pics/c/txFrV1eE
And this is the comparison I've made from that same episode:
https://slow.pics/c/poFWhH5z
https://slow.pics/c/GShNgsVX
https://slow.pics/c/PrmRFZLh
https://slow.pics/c/thpaKMHP
And another 8 shots can be seen at this link from episodes 10, 20, 50, 120 which I just selected these episodes at random for comparison:
https://slow.pics/c/1mRsPp7p
I'm seeing a sort of bluriness at fine lines and details. For example around eyes, eyelashes, hairlines, words, and basically any lines are blurred compared to the remux.
I'm just bringing this to your attention in case something was overlooked because your own comparison doesn't have this bluriness, yet it does exist in the actual encode? I thought it's worth noting so maybe this can be mitigated in your future DBZ release. Thanks as always for the amazing work you and your team do.
Also as a note, the black bars on the sides of my screenshots aren't in your encode, those are the cropped sides. I just padded it with black borders to match up the frames pixel for pixel for easier comparison with the frames from the remux. Also, my shots are at the container resolution of 720x480.
@iKaos yeah I see your comment now. No problem man, I'm glad to see you guys are on top of it and striving for quality. We're lucky to have you. I'd suggest working with a remux version to use as the source for your project. Then you can bang out all kinds of encodes straight off the final remux. Like even rmvb for the bloat criers lol. If issues like this arise with an encode I'd imagine it's easier to bang out a new encode with altered settings straight from the remux instead of putting it all together all over again. The remux basically becomes the source and would always be a finished product as far as video goes, even with flaws, it is what it is. Anyway, thanks again for making our dreams come true. Looking forward to whatever else you guys put out.
