~~PanicPaintbrush's release of Elfen Lied. It's just [deanzel's release](https://nyaa.si/view/655707) (rip, that torrent didn't deserve to die) but without german audio and with a better video source. The sub tracks are two excellent fansubs that have both been modified by deanzel to fix any errors, add a couple more signs, and match Doki's typesetting. Though it's larger, [Nep's release](https://nyaa.si/view/939518) unfortunately uses x265 video and appears to just use the bluray subs, making this release the one to keep.~~ **Trumped by [Lulu](https://nyaa.si/view/1490933); grab that if you're looking for the best release. I'm just keeping this up for posterity** Video Track: 1080p-Hi10p h264 (ANK-Raws) Audio Track 1: (Default): English 5.1 FLAC Audio Track 2: Japanese 5.1 FLAC Subtitle Track 1: (Default): English ASS Signs & Songs (Doki) Subtitle Track 2: English ASS Full (Doki AKH-Anisubs; deanzel edit) Subtitle Track 3: English ASS Full (Coalgirls R1 w/ Doki styling) Chapters: Yes [mediainfo here](https://pastebin.com/vnu7yp8t) ![alt text](https://files.catbox.moe/wckc3u.png)

Thanks much appreciated. A definite release if you will. I will seed as much as I can. Thanks
how could 1080p video be better if it's all upscaled from SD?
h265 is a ~~meme?~~
> It’s just deanzel’s release (rip, that torrent didn’t deserve to die) but without german audio and with a better video source Are you sure about that? With older releases like this the 720p encodes might actually be better than the 1080p ones, so deanzel's original release is probably still the best one.
Thanks! Need more Deanzel releases!!
Much better than deanzel. deanzel's release used a very shitty warpsharpened encode with really apparent detail loss.
For comparison, deanzel's release (same video, just aac audio) can be found here: https://nibl.co.uk/bots.php?search=elfen And no, deanzel's (doki) video is the better than ank-raws, which is what Pbb uses. the denoising ank-raws was the wrong choice. Please point where you find detail loss.
Imagine believing moozzi2-like filtering from Doki's encode is in any way good.
@yukino those bots aren't working
don't know if you have issues with your irc client but they do work. sometimes it gets busy and you have to wait. If you happen to get it. Check ep1@2:30. Perfect example. notice the dark areas top/and right and also play close attention to the pipes on left. ank-raws looses detail and shows banding and artifacts in favor of denoising. nep blanc video is out of the question since they tried to show more details by brightening. bad move. if you want the "best" then get deanzel's and mux the flac audio from coalgirl's, which is what deanzel released internally at AB. Cheers
Doki isn't known for great encodes either though, so I guess the best option would be, a new encode?
Still, not sure why the dub sounds like it was recorded in 1879, in a bathroom, and in underwater.
