Aria the Avvenire is not upscaled from DVDs, it’s a real bluray which came separated as 1 episode per each one of the three seasons.
About your 2nd question, this release has more details and closer to the real bluray, there was also some issues on sally’s release, like the bad resolution due to the cropping, also too much erased details, and some corruption on the edges, those artifacts are not original, the bluray was great, it’s due to some kind of wrong filtration use.
This comparison might help you, if you take a deep look on the lips, and the collar (especially the edges).
I think the person meant the japanese bdmv used qtec (it destroys details) while the US version from Nozomi does not. Which of the two did you use as the US version is the better version. http://www.nozomientertainment.com/aria-video-comparison/
edit: from another Aria release from the uploader indicates it’s based on the Japanese inferior BDMV release.
@Paraexo so what about youre relase of aria the animation is it better compared to sallys? Because if it is I’ll change my copy with yours. Aria has been my favorite anime I want to keep a decent copy?
@fuee Here is a couple of comparisons with sally’s release, 2 for each season with some zoomed views to help you on making your decision, and showing the haloing issue, the bad resolution, artifacts…
@warui
As i said here, i will continue with this comparison between my encode and the USBD, and another zoomed view for a deep comparison, to see how increasing brightness with some sharpening level will create fake clarity and details, accompanied with a bunch of other problems.
