Audio: - Japanese Subtitles: - English - Spanish - Brazilian Portuguese The subtitles are from Netflix and I used this DVDRip from [CKBROS] to test it out and they're in sync, unfortunately the picture quality isn't very good, but it's just a test after all. I did notice the NEP wasn't subtitled, so I guess Netflix skipped over that completely as they assumed no one would watch? They do have the feature to fast-forward to the next episode, after all. That said, the English subs and dub of Netflix are available for download so it's just a matter of time before someone makes a high quality release using the R2J DVDs. ADV dub, Netflix dub, English subs by ADV/NF and the other dubs out there (French, Spanish, Latin Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, etc) would be cool.

If you want the best quality its not the R2J, apparently there was a R3 release that was better and there's a great encode of it by Chyrka/Yurasyk on U2. I was adding the Netflix Eng sub & dub to them but 10 episode in Nyaa banned me(probably since its a 720p upscale) so I gave up. So maybe re-encode it to 480p if anyone plans to do the project here.

@ GogetaSSJ4 While I don't trust you anymore, I checked it out and you're right. My bad for assuming it was all synced up. @ Ratman I read that, but why hasn't anyone uploaded at least the first episode for a test run? I'd like to check it. Also, the audio isn't any better than on the R2J DVDs is it? That's always something I've wished to be improved.

Saint Seiya needs broadcast audio
Hi ! Where can we find the Chyrka/Yurasyk release ?

Impakt (uploader)

User
@ H94 Broadcast Audio of Saint Seiya has been uploaded, but unfortunately it sounds no better than the DVDs do.
To synchronize you have to take into account that the NF has removed the "eyecatches" ?
@GogetaSSJ4, I think I have found the Chyrka/Yurasyk release, it's on a japanese forum, but I don't see a download button anywhere : https://www.tsdm39.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=840751 Maybe we have to sign up to see it ?
You have to register, and participate to score points to be able to download?
Oh I see... So you are a member of that forum ? How can we score points ? Just by posting on the topics ?
Unfortunately I have no points, I signed up at the time because of rurouni kenshin iso but a colleague managed to get me the isos so I left the forum?
Haha I understand. Maybe your colleague or someone else can manage to get us the Chyrka/Yurasyk release lol.
I'm sorry but I don't have contact with my colleague anymore?
Apparently someone did a dual using the Chyrka / Yurasyk files. I found this "Saint Seiya - 01 [DVDRip 960x720 x264 AC3] (Dual Audio).mkv" has 1.8gb an ep, but is dead ? This one is also dead !!!! https://www.torrent.org.cn/t-615565

I'm glad this thread has kicked up a discussion on a possible quality release of Saint Seiya. ?
When speaking about series such as Saint Seiya or Hokuto No Ken, its sad how less treatment they receive, I mean its good that people still supports the series even today providing whats the best to enjoy watching, but I wish they get more love such as the DB releases which I always see a lot amounts of work behind it, I do hope we will get the chance to have a good quality release for both of em (would be'a dream that comes true even with broadcast audio, but guess that will not happen anytime soon)
@GogetaSSJ4, Where are your Saint Seiya release ? I don't see it on Nyaa.
Thank you ! I am gonna see if the image quality is better than Zera-Subs release or not...

I'm so happy other people are interested in getting quality Saint Seiya, @m199x don't lose hope. I'm currently syncing the English dub and subs to the Blu-Rays, I want to release a remux with the English Netflix dub and subs. Spanish (Latin & Spain) dubs, French, and Portuguese may be possible as well (read below). Of course subs for all those languages as well. The torrent is stuck at 99.5% though so currently I'm using Kagura's, I would prefer to release a remux from the BD box though. Japanese audio with English subs may be the best way to watch for me, but I know others enjoy watching other ways so might as well try to do as much as I can. Here is 【episode 1】and its ❪MediaInfo❫ : 【https://mega.nz/file/9AxhARRD#TZulA_pQTU5cvvsefRHH6UF0eK9XefLnCzsEgmxePUM 】 ❪https://pastebin.com/raw/TLQA41RD ❫ Also, ➊ I know the French audio sounds like shit, I do not have a better source for them. If anyone points me in the right direction I'll try to include better quality of any of the audios. Both Spanish and the French dubs are sourced from Reddit batch (also the fansubs) which as far as I can tell seem to be in sync. BUT in case I have to resync those I don't think I can since it would make it take 3 times longer to finish. I do not have Portuguese dubs or subs, Netflix subs would have to be synced if added. However I am pretty sure I can save the shift time I do to the English Netflix subs on notes and someone could sync the Portuguese ones and they should, in my head at least, match the Japanese audio. Thanks @GogetaSSJ4 for the Netflix rips! Why upload anon though? Anyway not the point.

➋ VobSubs from ADV were included because they are the only ones that cover the NEPs, they are a couple secs out of sync and there is nothing I can do about it unless they are OCR'ed into .srt format. I need your input if I should just cut them out of the final release. They would only go up to episode 60 any way. Oh and I know other dubs do not cover the NEPs as well, I can copy that part of the Japanese audio to the Netflix English dub or just leave it as is, up to you guys. ➌ ADV dubs are not included because they would be out of sync. It seems that all dubs desync around the eyecatches, Netflix skips it completely while ADV's have a 0.5s-1.5s black screen before they kick in. Thanks so much @Impakt for sharing them either way! ➍ I can sync broadcast audio for episodes 39 and 40 (eps 67 & 89 are out there, but torrents are dead). I've read tales of a collector with a treasure trove of broadcast audios which is from where those came from supposedly. If it's worth getting the rest, the person really has them all, who the person is, or what would incentivize the person to look for them and record them I have no idea. ➎ I would also like to sync to the DVDs, it's what I wanted to do originally but I could not find them anywhere or info if there was anything better then the R2J Box I & II. Those are going for ~ ¥20,000. There are also Malaysian bootlegs around ebay which claim they come which Cantonese audio, could these bootlegs be from the R3 DVDs? I doubt they would have any kind of good quality either way, but thought worth putting the idea out. Worst comes to worst, I'll buy the R2J Boxes (or R3 if there is solid proof they are better however I can't find those for sale) just that it's gonna take a while. Hades OVAs, spinoffs, and movies I can do as well but after I'm done with episodes 1-114!
@D4C that is a helluva stuff right there, thanks for all the hard work you're putting right there ?? I look forward to this big project release, also I just found this site that """have""" the episodes but uploader forgot to put them, atleast we can see how R3 DVDs really looks like: https://downasia.com/saint-seiya-1986-1989-complete-dvdrip/
Thank you for all your efforts. I know this is purely fan love, and I appreciate it even more. One thing I would like to understand is why everybody seems to think that any version other than Toei's (be it DVD or BR) is going to look/be better. I know they did an upscale for their BR release, so I understand a lot of people appreciate the image of a DVD better (bc of film grain, etc.) and I somehow agree. It's just that it's hard to believe that an R3 DVD product will look better than an R2 DVD released by the very animation company that animated the show. Also, Japanese are known for releasing stuff that is only available in their market to make it even more exclusive...
The quality of the Chyrka / Yurasyk files is amazing, @m199x. R3 DVDs is the best release I guess.
Clemsi ---> Creio que tenho esses DVDRips 720p upscales, codificações oriundas dos DVDs lançados em Taiwan.
@Impakt Its been a while when I compared but I think I remember the R2J & R3 having more crisp & loud Japanese audio but with the side effect of some background hiss noise that you can hear with headphones. It seems like Netflix applied a filter to remove the noise, or maybe it was from the Japanese blu-ray but I never watched that version.

I got the R3T! Below is a remux I quickly did of the first episode with everything I had done to the Blu-Ray version + Chinese dub and subtitles. From my current testing it seems the only versions of Saint Seiya that unsync are the ones from the US (ADV & Netflix) due to messing with the eyecatches. @Ratman The episodes are 720x480, I don't get what you meant by it being a upscale? It's the same resolution as other DVD release, but episodes appear to have better bitrate. Sorry if I misunderstand. @Clemsi the one you linked (Chyrka/Yurasyk) seems to be a Hi10p reencode, however that forum has as lot of rare stuff and their pointing system seems easy, it's not in Japanese though lol. I'm kind of confused because they claim 960x720 on the R3T there, but the R3T I acquired is 720x480... are there two different R3T DVDs? Thank you a lot for sharing. @Juni-Anker I have the same thoughts as you, hard to believe a R3T which info does not appear anywhere I look for is the best source for Saint Seiya's DVD release rather than the R2J boxes. I can only speculate reasons like the people who worked on it being big fans and putting bigger effort, or fanbase being bigger in Taiwan? If that is the case who knows, very curious. DVDs are always my favorite way to watch because of the ???? grain. 【 https://mega.nz/file/UcxgCAzJ#cV5iQeGBog51L5sQGldzO-V3xKPiAxp9kIuzHkIg9WA 】❪ https://pastebin.com/raw/Hzq062NK ❫ *Japanese AC-3 is from R3T. *Japanese FLAC is from Kagura's BD. Now that you have seen the first episode from the R3T, what are your opinions?
There are R3T ISOs DVDs and they also have their respective DVDRips. However, those who made the encodings chose to do upscales with 960x720 resolution rather than maintaining the 720x480 resolution of the DVD. It was a good choice, in my opinion. Here's episode 001: DVDRip 720p R3T (video encoded with upscale) by Chyrka/Yurasyk https://mega.nz/file/vpkkXQjS#GPfa--4LfgccWIDQEWFDG5ADvm0x3fUuhinL2O9FXRY DVDRemux R2J (video intact) by Rafa_Chaves https://mega.nz/file/6892BKzC#RKkf0kHXZXYMcVeU0BiexukzUmb94ZwPGxdqCvMyd3c DVDRip R2J (video encoded and filtered) by Zera-Subs https://mega.nz/file/Tw1AkKSB#e-EybSe28CSMLrLRcaQrdqTv-_xq1FswWdmIE5kyjQ4
@D4C that is some real quality there indeed, as for the R3T I knew there was just only 1 release, maybe the 960x720p version is (just as you said) the fanbase putting big efforts on it, nonetheless both yours and @Kaioshin7's episodes looks amazing !
@D4C, your first episode is beautiful, and you even added french subtitles, that's great for me ! Did you do all 114 episodes ?!

D4C

User
@Kaioshin7 Nice! I'll compare all of these and find all the differences I can. The only one I can notice right away is that R3T seems to have better colors. Why do you think upscale was a good choice? Not trying to counter argue it seems you have had this for a while so I'm curious on your opinion/if you know something about how they where upscaled. @m199x If there was only one release in Taiwan that's exactly it, a fanmade upscale from the R3T. Makes a lot of sense now, that is why Ratman's got deleted. Rules limit DVDs to 1024x576 (960x720 = 1280x720, it's over the limit) unless the source itself is a higher resolution, Chyrka/Yurasyk version would not be allowed. @Clemsi I have not done much, but I am going to do all 1-114 (and the rest of the series later on). I don't want to give a time frame, but I'm going to try be as fast as possible. Depends how much free time I have in my day. All dubs and subs done for Saint Seiya that I can get will be included so you can watch your favorite way! The only ones missing are the Brazilian portuguese ones I think. I'll also try to get better quality dubs and the official subs. For example the french dubs currently sound like they where recorded in a public bathroom, I definitely want to change those for better ones.
@D4C I think this will be' the best release Saint Seiya ever got here, take all the time you need for it, I'm really happy the series is getting such big love finally after so long
@D4C I had the impression that the grain became more uniform, but I may be mistaken. I'm no expert on this subject. The source has quality, so I'm sure they'll do something good with it.
tsdm.net is a damn site from that WuHan_Chinc_virus_originate country...... moron+idiotic way of getting files from there ==" There's once a 5-DVD-boxes release in TWN 100% based from the JP release... like 10 years ago... I guess the size is NTSC TV 480p only ??? unless someone ripped from that and did a small up-scale to 720p ??? LOL... what happened to that pathetic and Chūnibyō Gogeta_Shitty_Sucking_Jinx_4_ever ???
@D4C, So you have french subtitles for every Saint Seiya episodes ? I am gonna wait for your release if that's the case then ! Are you gonna upload it on Nyaa ?

D4C

User
@Clemsi Yes, I have by Zero-Absolu for the series. Pretty sure those are fansubs, I'll have to look a little into that and add official subs if those exist. I personally really like fansubs, but others get annoyed by the typesetting so I would like to include both options for languages. Of course I'll upload here :)
Yeah, Zero Absolu is a french fansub team. They did 114 episodes of the main series and the sanctuary part of the hades chapter. Do you have french subtitles for the Hades OVAs ? I can give you a link.

@ xpic As per the rules: > Shitposting and Trolling: Your account will be banned if you keep this up. Repeatedly making inaccurate/false reports falls under this rule as well.

@Clemsi I don't have French subtitles for Hades currently, if you can yes please share it would be helpful!
@D4C, You can download the french subtitles for the Hades Chapter (Sanctuary, Inferno and Elysion) here : https://www.sous-titres.eu/series/saint_seiya_the_hades_chapter.html Those are official subs from DVDs.
@Impakt well... haha~~ poor guy... who's the genius that reported him??? not me... not you... who else XD
@D4C Use Subresync to synchronize vobsubs. Has tutorials on google?

@ xpic He went around spamming (I'd actually say harass) on torrents, especially mine and after a staff member noticed it, that was it for him. Man, DB community has some really screwed up fans. The type you'd prefer to stay away from (Kanzenshuu has a lot of them, too, it's like a paradise for them as they all agree on the same stuff). But I digress, let's forget this ever happened. I'm hoping for a quality Saint Seiya release, whenever that'll be. ?
So I downloaded the R3 DVDrip provided by @D4C, the R3 upscale by Chyrka/Yurasyk and I already had the Kagura BDrip. Please see the comparison. https://ibb.co/Ns0tCt2 I noticed that both dvdrips have artifacts or dirty parts (probably due to the master film used and the usage of celluloid) in the upper part of the frame. Also, when there's a scene transition the last frame also has a shadow in the lower part. Again, this must be due to the master used. This is absent in the BDrip, and I'm guessing it's obviously due to the "cleaning" Toei did with their masters. I noticed a difference also between the dvdrips (not resolution obviously), but the version provided by D4C has one extra frame. Mediainfo says the video stream is at 24 fps while the Chyrka/Yurasyk upscale is at 23.976 fps (which is the same as the BDrip btw). This makes the encode look like it "drags" an extra frame when playback is happening. The R3 upscale looks def better overall. It's even painful to adjust your eyes to the BDrip after having watched that version lol. So if someone has gotten their hands on the complete Chyrka/Yurasyk it's definitely worth it. There, my 50 cents :)

User
@Rafawell I looked into Subresync. Since they desync about halfway through I think cutting, retiming, and then rejoining them is what has to be done. Thanks for the heads up :). I have both Portuguese dubs: Gota Mágica at 128kbps and Álamo at 256kbps, the latter does come from a Blu-Ray. @Impakt Sooner rather than later hopefully! Funny enough I have been on a DB binge, its been taking time off this project I should stop. >.> @Juni-Anker I really like the how you made the comparisons, makes my OCD feel good. Also noticed the difference in framerate in MediaInfo as well and got curious if other regions also vary. The R2J doesn't also at 23.976fps, but ADV's US does at 29.970fps. I'm going to take a guess and say other regions also vary. I have managed to get the complete Chyrka/Yurasyk version, so those who want to watch that way won't be left in the dark just that those aren't going to on be here as per the rules.
Awesome! I mean, wherever it is you share it, do let us know please!
Yeah, @D4C, let us know where you will upload Chyrka/Yurasyk release please. But I am still gonna wait your ultimate version with french subs.
@Rafawell Esses áudios com 96 kbps eram dos DVDs lançados no começo dos anos 2000. Felizmente, a PlayArte recentemente lançou boxes com áudios com mais qualidade. @D4C The pt-br audio stemming from PlayArte's DVDs/BDs originally has 224 kbps. The one you refer to is 256 kbps because it was recoficated. If you want, I can send these audios already synchronized with the DVDRip 720p R3T or the intact ones (these need to be synchronized).

D4C

User
@Kaioshin7 Ugh I was hopeful tracks would sync to the 720p reencode and did not bother to check. All audios and subtitles from the original R3T or the BD get out of sync with that version. For sure if you can send synced Portuguese dubs I'll put them in, but it would be a hassle to do all the other tracks since I'm deep into the R3T/BD resyncs. Do you know who did the resync to credit them? I'll credit you for providing them as well unless you say not to. @Clemsi/@Juni-Anker For sure no point in not sharing. I'll wait to add the pt dubs and come back to say where they are up. Sadly if I remux any subs into them they would be out of sync, so I won't remux subs for that one. :( Also about the French dubs I could only find others at 96.0 kbps. I kind of understood there was a rerecording of the originals but google translate may be getting that wrong, if anyone knows anything else about them let me know.
@D4C You have 100 audios ready. They were synchronized and coded in FLAC to avoid loss of quality. Because of this, the file size has nearly quadrupled. The size is around 120 mb. Is that a problem for you? If not, send some kind of contact from you so I can send you a link to download the files.

D4C

User
@Kaioshin7 It's no problem, sounds even better. You can send the link to d4c@brbqx.com, it's a temp email but it should be alive until I delete it. Thanks a lot for the help.
@D4C I sent the link to your email. I hope you got it.

D4C

User
@Kaioshin7 Yes, got it. Thanks! In case others check back here for an update. I'm more than halfway through syncing the Netflix dub to my R3T remux. Should be done by the weekend or before if nothing pops up. The other dubs when added to Chyrka/Yurasyk version seem to be out of sync by like a second or so, I'll look a little more into it today. If that is the case though I should be able to fix them fast.

D4C

User
"If nothing pops up" ->Finished syncing ->HDD decides it's the perfect time to die. At least I could recover the synced tracks. I'm currently retiming the subtitles... again. Sorry that it will take a little longer. ugh.
Hi D4C. Thank you for your efforts and contribution. I don't believe any of us here is in a rush. So, no worries.
If you are looking for next episode previews, the old Zerasubs versions (originally from Hoj years ago on bakabt) should have them. Those subs were not accurate except where they used other accurate subs as sources, but 1-60 were mostly ADV and 61-62 were from an old fansubbing group, so at least those next episode previews might be usable. I could send you separate .ass files off of bakabt if you want them for the NEPs though they're not quite the final version as exists here in the Zerasubs torrent.

User
@arromdee I synced the audio for the ADV dub and subtitles, there's no need. ;)

@D4C Any chance you could upload those retimed English Netflix subtitles to mega and share a link ?
>I synced the audio for the ADV dub and subtitles, there’s no need. ;) Yes, but the point is that you can add the ADV and 61-62 next episode preview subtitles to the Netflix SRT subtitle track. (and maybe the later previews if they're translated accurately enough) (Also I hope someone makes a version that isn't lossless, I bet a lot more people will be interested in just having it if it's smaller.)

@UltimateFighter For sure, https://nyaa.si/view/1271010 @arromdee Oh, sorry I understand now. I wanted to archive everything in a single place keeping it as original as possible. I'm probably being picky, but since it could only be done to ep 60 (or 62) it kinda bothers me. Plus reuploading everything that is up already, and I'd like to move on to the Hades OVA. If later someone is willing to translate the NEP for the remaining episodes though I can sync them all. As well as OCR the VobSubs just in case something was changed in the fansubs. Yea my main objective is to preserve everything at their original quality which is not what most people are looking for. If anyone wants to do a reencode, everything will be in one place. You have my blessing, as long as you credit.
@D4C, It's amazing ! I want to watch the whole series with french subs in this quality one day !
>If later someone is willing to translate the NEP for the remaining episodes though I can sync them all. As well as OCR the VobSubs just in case something was changed in the fansubs. I would imagine that the next episode preview subs for the Zerasubs aren't *that* bad. The Hoj/Zerasubs have song subtitles for the OP/ED as well. If you're lucky, they might sync already. I don't know where they came from, at least not the second ones (first was probably ADV). They were probably taken from an existing lyric translation. I googled the song subtitles for the second OP/ED and found translated lyrics for them which are not the same translation used there. Incidentally, Hotblood is the group that did 61-62 back in 2012. You can still find old references to those fansubs. Subs are at https://mega.nz/file/YRYAwYzK#AvLeTIHxfGiV1pmTY5zcfLhjCaEZ5ckbWJwqBUtXUCQ . I got these off of bakabt way back when, before they were used in Zerasubs. I don't know if they are the latest version.

D4C

User
@arromdee Don't get me wrong I don't think the subs are bad, but just in case something was missing/changed like italicized words. Thanks for sharing them! The opening at least would probably be in sync, but like I said it bothers me it can only be done half way for the NEPs :/.
Does anyone have the link ruroun kenshin box dvd9 ?? ... I deleted my isos to make room for coding "but now I know I shouldn't have done that"? Anything: Dinambyte@protonmail.com
Could anyone please upload Chyrka/Yurasyk's version anywhere? I'd really love to have that version.
