If you’re asking if this is the last season, it could be. Just finished the LN of Alicization Awakening. But, Reki Kawahara might make another LN, so I’m not 100% sure. This show is fucking awesome anyways.

Not 10 minutes into the first episode and we already get tentacle rape. It wasn't necessary in the ALO arc, and it isn't necessary here. Y u do dis, Kawahara?

"because the author is a hack and every villain is obviously a rapist" He's recently said that he's ashamed of writing stuff that edgy, and that he would never do it again. :D It was really just what was popular at the moment, like ultra-gore was popular when Akira was made in the late 80's/early 90's (?), so it had some gory scenes too. The "LN" or whatever is apparently pretty old by now.

writing what's popular usually means you are a hack. but no it was criticized during its release especially when he used the same tropes several times. It's just called being unoriginal.

I wasn't expecting such a rapey scene right off from the get-go. Jeezus.

I'm sorry but if folks wanna be triggered about some anime that clearly isn't for kids... they'll have to re-check what they are doing with their lives.... its clearly not for audiences that cant handle it, if you dont like it ignore it, if you dont want it, skip over it, on the other hand I don't really care if it was there or if it wasn't but I'm glad that it follows the manga/LN properly instead of trashing everything for the sake of appeasing some fake fanbase or sjw's who talk about gender rights of unreal/non-existent people when real folks are being abused in the middle east/Europe or Africa for that matter.... when most of every other anime out there is slicing out the brutal bits or the graphic stuff just to please those label holders with their sensitive behinds and smacking the original content aside, these kinds of shows give real fans what they needed; Then again their main focus is Japanese viewers, so as a outsider who isn't in the expected viewer base even though they are open minded to let the world in on it, I'd say questioning it is quite absurd and ungrateful... so you either take it as it is or you dont cause just like you everyone else has to right to enjoy what they want as it should be. and these aren't for the soft minded or hearted nor the special kind of folks who take it to a point of believing that these aren't fictional characters in a fictional story. p.s get real noobs, you aren't 日本人 , keep your culture to yourselves instead of trying to instinctively oppress other nations cultures or their fantasy preferences just because it triggered your trap card. i'm gonna go drink some tea or something... meh.

@Arargi_Koyomi Judging by the length of your comment and the amount of time you must've spend on it, I would say the triggered one is you. I don't think anyone here is criticizing the show for not being politically correct, or for being too graphic for its target audience. We're criticizing a scene for showing rape for the sake of rape. It doesn't add anything to the story, it doesn't develop the characters, it doesn't even make any sort of sense, it's just there because it's edgy and the author thought it would be popular with edgy teens. Which it wasn't. It was severely criticized in Japan even in the LN publication, which lead to the author swearing off writing such scenes in the future. Being faithful to the source material is commendable, but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do when the author himself admits he is ashamed of it and should have written it differently.

Yeah bro nobody is criticizing it because they can't handle rape or graphic content, it's just that the author always does it in extremely poor taste. Compare it to the rape of Guts or the rape of Casca, which are legtimitately good ways of storytelling dark things that coincide perfectly with the world, it's characters, and its consequences. I honestly cannot believe they didn't edit this scene out from the source material, I can only imagine there isn't much material at all to begin wtih so they had to keep it.
