In case you're unable to play the embedded subtitles, you can download the Japanese subtitles from here: https://mega.nz/folder/kOhyUYqZ#hWF_tdB__p94k8fdJOKb4w
Thanks for this gem, but why I can't turn on the jap subtitle ? after doing mediainfo on the file I get a text encrypted file and can't be turned on any media player
@DoubleHelix I'm able to turn on the Japanese subtitles with VLC. In any case, I extracted the subtitles and uploaded them here: https://mega.nz/folder/kOhyUYqZ#hWF_tdB__p94k8fdJOKb4w
@Henrietta_R_Hippo I tried VLC and it wasn't able to play the subtitle at all or display it, it outputs an error, and when I do mediainfo it says Encryption: Encrypted
can you give me your mediainfo for the .ts to check what kind of text file type you have
Thanks for the file
@DoubleHelix The mediainfo is the same. It also shows me that the subtitles are encrypted. I’m assuming it’s got something to do with Animax, since I have never noticed this with other channels. I’m able to select the subtitle track with VLC, but not with MPC-HC. If I upload KochiKame in future, I’ll add a link to the extracted subtitles if I find them encrypted again.
@Bruder456 They’re not currently airing that on ANIMAX. If they’re airing something, you can see this under the title: 次回放送, and then the date when then next episode airs.
@Henrietta_R_Hippo I was just telling If they will air that special episode in future. Will you upload it?
By the way show is on Abema TV. You can rip from there too..

up-to-date vlc and ffmpeg can display the subs.
subtitles are ARIB format, google is your friend. there does seem to be a couple of programs which can extract but i haven't tried them so can't suggest any further.
i use 64-bit portable builds. current stable 3.0.11 works fine on my end. ARIB support was there in all 3.0.11 versions i checked right now. i don't believe on windows the binaries being delivered would differ. maybe try resetting or jumping back and forth between versions. current 4.0.0 x64 dev build also displays subtitles properly.
