1/2 I've found certain subs that people claim to be "overly-localized" are usually fine (I am a big advocator of Commie for Monogatari for example, even though they're slow as molasses). There are some examples where I think fansubbers go too far (not in the mood to list examples and argue with green names about it when I feel it's a matter of subjectivity), but for the most part generally I am satisfactory with the majority of the "fansubbing cartel" translations. (fansubbing cartel is a nomenclature that they seemed to have adopted ironically, and i have no idea what else to call that group despite knowing the concept of a fansubbing cartel is ridiculous) That said, I am not someone who thinks there is one objective way to enjoy anime fansubs. I think de-localization has a sizeable enough niche in the anime community to have some merit. I have also never been fond of the green name squad constantly showing up to bitch and moan about how other people watch fansubs. They have a valid point that overly weeb-ish subs are hard to understand for beginners to the anime fandom, but that doesn't mean releases that cater to the minority should be endlessly shitposted about in smug fashion. It's not productive. It's not changing anyone's mind about the "correct" way to watch/translate anime. It's simply shitposting and circlejerking for the sake of shitposting and circlejerking. If the the people constantly behaving this way in the comment section were less toxic about their opinions, I guarantee you there would be less vitriol thrown at them and their releases in turn. Toxicity is a cycle. Obviously, I don't expect all toxicity to disappear because of a few bad actors stopping, but I wish people would stop trying to claim the moral high ground about anime fansubs when they are being as toxic as the average /a/ poster.

I don't really understand why you re-encoded VCB's (presumably) excellent and still fairly small raw (which, unless I'm missing something, was already H265 to begin with?) I also agree with noZA about Ojou and Sakura, and I'm not too keen about the food names being de-localized as well, but those are just some of my preferences when it comes to de-localized subs. Everybody's different, and if a choice really bothers you that much, it doesn't take a genius to use find and replace in aegisub. Even if I have a few problems with this torrent, i still think this is actually above average for this genre of release. Thanks for the contribution.

IIRC VCB's files were H264 (already deleted them so I'm not so sure). As you can see from the comparison screenshots, there's no quality drop at all. H265 decreased the file sizes around 60%+ so I don't see why shouldn't we use 265 over 264, unless people want to watch directly on some old TV that don't support it.

Size does matters.I do not talk about my parameters :) Everyone who has no infinite storage place, size does matter. 265 better than 264. even i have already about 10 TB, i struggle, how and where store new releases. Smaller better. Relocalization, hmmmm after 10 years of anime watching, for me is no problem to understand Sakura, Ojo and etc.but it is better if i do not need to translate twice - i am a hungarian so TL to english and TL to hungarian. Not to mention of talkative names. Midori chan, Mikan chan(green and orange) Using honorifics are good. Not translating names are good too,but not translating common words are a bad idea. The worst is to change name order to english way, it is the most annoying trend.Not because i am a hungarian where we use names as the japanese, but i do not like to read it when it sounds reverese, When i watch an anime i would like to see what i hear, no substitutes and with honorifics.Anyway, the uploader have his reasons, append these as comment, everyone can accept or decline, but does not need any shitposting, if you do not like, do not download, very simple. So, i finished to watch this show. Something good i could say, but i won't Delocalization here or there, it is not a decent sub. Imouto, Anata. I know what it means, but it needs properly translated for the people who did not know. The word sakura should be cherry blossom except it is Sakura as a name Nobody translate names : Aoi chan will never be Miss Blue, this is ok, but if you translate only a part of dialogues, it is nothing to be praised.Onodera younger sister called as imouto, why? The only anime where the word imouto are must be as is The fruits of Grisaia, when Immortal discovered as Imouto because he is a siscon and just misheard as immortal by american soldiers.

I really appreciate the honorifics but you are going too far. Sure, people who have watched a lot of anime will be able to understand those changes but they won't enjoy them if you do this much. And for those who don't know what they mean won't be able to understand things. So I think you need to stop inserting too much japanese in subs in your future releases.

Thank you ever so much for fixing the OP issue with the FFF subs; that issue made previous BD releases using FFF subs unwatchable for certain episodes if you desired subs. (For those unaware of the problem, a couple of episodes that FFF subbed had no OP in their original source and thus no OP subs, and the groups using them for the BD release didn't catch on so they didn't offset the subs to allow for no subs during the OP...so the subs were out of sync by the length of the OP for the rest of that episode. And...the OP changed with a certain frequency, so patching in subs from another episode would require making sure it was the proper version of the OP...and hope it wasn't a unique OP sequence.) As to the rest...let's just say the reason I stumbled upon this release was that I was specifically seeking [Rom & Rem] releases as I've a similar perspective on localization...
