I totally appreciate your efforts [Prof], but I don't understand the recent infatuation from everyone around the use of HEVC for 1080p in a time when disk space and bandwidth are relatively cheap. HEVC was created for higher resolution 4K, and it adds too much softness to lower resolution 1080p. HEVC is the Viagra of encoding - not being used for its original purpose (heart medication) - with a tradeoff of less bloat in this case.
