Second-year high school student Aioi Aoi feels indebted to her sister Akane ever since her sister gave up her dream to go to Tokyo with her ex-boyfriend Kanamuro Shinnosuke, a struggling guitarist, in order to take care of her after they lost their parents in an accident 13 years ago. One day Aoi is invited to perform as a session musician at a music festival for a famous enka singer named Nitobe Dankichi. check the subtitle track menu if the Enable option is checked. try switching subtitle tracks because your player might be feeded two tracks for pgs subtitles. if these don't work and your player is using LAV splitter then open LAV splitter properties and make sure checkboxes under PGS section are unchecked.
the .ass subtitle should work if you keep it's filename same as Dmon's mkv and put it in the same folder as the mkv before opening the mkv.
@zakezoe85 Dude, on the front page of the MPC-HC site it says pretty clearly "MPC-HC is not under development since 2017. Please switch to something else." /Just tell me what u dont understand from that... ? =))
Better try some player like:
- MVP (Most recommended for anime)
- VLC
- PotPlayer (I recommend for this one "Madshi" as video render!)

I knew MPC-HC hasn't been updated for while.
That's why I asked whats the new standard to playing new types of files.
MPC-HC by itself can not play anything.
It needs CODECs to play stuff.
I download the LAV Filters Megamix from here:

This includes (amongst other things) a build of MPC-HC updated 17 Jun 2020 and plays everything I throw at it, including this sub, because the CODECs included with it work perfectly.
