Two things to note:

  1. This release seems to have been artificially upscaled. I’m unsure of which algorithm or ESRGAN was used.
  2. The way this was encoded seems to be incompatible with CUDA video decoding. Possibly an encoder bug.

The latter affects my preferred filter chain. I had to sacrifice either motion interpolation, subtitles, or color quality to allow the video streams to decode.
My point is that it’s a pain in the ass for everyone when the encoder or decoder has a bug that breaks basic functions under certain conditions. Yes, I’ve checked other HEVC releases and they work fine.

EDIT: I was able to get my my preferred player settings working after S1E02. The first two episodes were…problematic.
