are you not continuing with subs?
learn japanese lol
I think LY release was pretty solid overall, you can take their subs and I intend to do it as well
motbob had to do "Additional timing, editing, and QC" on their subs for his volume 1 release so i'm not sure you can just slap them on some raws

Sure you can. You'll get a better experience than watching Funi or whatever if you do that. I'm going to take issue with basically any subs I work with, no matter how good they are. So me saying I modified them doesn't mean anything. (Although, some of the timing was REALLY questionable...)
better than funi, especially in some respects, is almost meaningless
Funi was more or less fine though. On the other hand, I don't rly understand their honorific policy. They usually (always?) remove this shit but FB went just full weeb.
I don't just slap them, I retime, TS properly and fix broken signs due resampling etc. But yeah editing is something I am not familiar with. @motbob their individual release was having that timing issue but they fixed it in their batch.
> (Although, some of the timing was REALLY questionable…) Agreed. FYI, the LY v1's for the first half of the series (which was all that was available when MTBB vol1 was released) were just stock Funi timing, with the exception of overlapping dialogue. I went back and retimed everything for the batch, and I intend to make another pass for the BD release (which will also include revamped TS and some minor dialogue edits). That being said, I'm not a timing expert by any stretch and unfortunately kBaraka-sama was unavailable this time. ;_; If anyone else improves the timing prior to Feb. 11 (when vol2 of the USBD comes out), I'll be happy to use it.
>stock Funi timing thanks, i just threw up in my mouth. also how the fuck do modern "fansubbers" not even know how to time? you can literally teach the dumbest people alive to do it (which i have).
https://doki.co/support/doki-timing-guide/ I'm being serious here that's how I learned it's not hard.
> I’m being serious here that’s how I learned it’s not hard. The part about generating keyframes is pretty useful, but for decent numbers you're better off asking timers from other groups. I mean seriously, 500ms lead-outs by default and a maximum theoretical lead-out of 1000ms... what the shit.

I do 1000ms post-audio snaps and joins. That's pretty standard.
No kidding... thanks for the warning.
no, doki's guide is pretty shit. use this one https://unanimated.github.io/timing-basics.htm
Thanks very much.
