@Impakt Not at this time, no. I have someone who is possibly helping me sync it but at this point it might not be included until my final complete batch.
Oh, okay. The title is a bit confusing, that's all.
@ Gnosis
Episodes 108-276 are widely available around the web, but it hasn't been properly synched with the Dbox in terms of a quality release. I'm aware they were synched with Dbox rips previously, but can't find them anywhere now. iKaos is our best bet.
@Impakt My bad, I copied the title from the S04 release and didn't realize that also said "Ocean Dub". I know that someone synced Dragon Box video to the Westwood audio, but that feels... backwards to me. Like I said best I can offer is my contact coming through with a sync.
Damn that would be amazing if you he could sync it then just release the audio files that way we could just add that one file. I've never knew that they continued it that long o would love to watch it.
@kakarot Combination of Deli's BA being being in 96khz and me tweaking the video encode settings to CRF 18 instead of 19 because I was starting to see more artifacts on these episodes than previous ones.
@SpanishGarbo I use Adobe Premiere to sync the singles audio to the video. I sometimes use Audacity to do adjustments as well. For the two remastered tracks I use [Dragon Radar](https://github.com/gravitypriest/dragon-radar).
@OMER Given that I still do little tweaks on every release, it's likely that the final batch will have episodes that are slightly different than these. There will likely be a long gap between when I finish season 9 and when I release the final batch so it depends on how long you want to wait.
The final batch sounds even better as it'll possibly have the Westwood dub (I didn't really grow up with it but it's a cool bonus). Thank you so much, iKaos, for putting endless hours and effort into this release which had it been done officially you'd get paid for it (if FUNimation actually cared about quality and their fans).
@iKaos
Thanks for these. Greatly appreciated. For the final batch will you swap the order of the next episode previews and the end credits? So that it matches how it originally aired on TV.
@Gnosis little tweaks would be possibly encoding the whole series at CRF 18, adjusting a few English NEPs for quality, re-encoding the S3 singles audio to try and fix the volume issues, re-tagging everything before S4 for consistency, fixing a few other minor issues that have been pointed out on various episodes, possibly adding the Westwood dub. It sounds like a lot but it's nothing majorly substantial. I'm also hoping that perhaps a CCed version is released so that I can use that as a base instead. I would predict mid to late 2020, assuming I get through S9 by February or so. Having Deli's audio literally cuts my sync time in half so I should hit that target.
@DrBALL I have no plans on swapping the NEP location as that would require video editing, which I haven't done since the level releases and would greatly increase my time.
@OMER I will likely do the movies, and possibly Dragon Ball (probably without Blue Water dub tho). I don't care about GT or DBS at all.
Thank you. Fantastic as always. :)
I found 2 little 'mistake':
ep145: There is no chapter file.
ep147: Different font for subtitle than the other episodes.
@wampa1 See, these are the little fixes I'm talking about. I've uploaded the chapters file and subs font here: https://mega.nz/#F!mMMDUabK!qvlcFIp5Ime9qpQLXc9z5A They can be muxed in with MKVToolNix, or also just installing the fonts will work too.
Excellent. The final batch with all 291 episodes will be well worth preserving.
If someone could do the same for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT with the Blue Water dub synched that would be great, too.
I will share this temporarily. If you have an unlimited account, make a backup and share it again as a torrent for the entire community.

@impakt yeah i grabbed those from your mega folder a while back, thanks again btw, found an old "remastered" version from forever ago synced to a wmv version of the dragonbox, test episode i did synced pretty well but got distracted, too many irons in the fire i guess lol
You're welcome.
I quite like that old synched audio, but I have a nitpick about it.. it doesn't use the dubbed Blue Water dub opening. Yes, it's shorter, but he [syncher] could have stretched it.
@ ZeroTwo007
I only managed to download most of season 2 episodes because I have a limited space x_x
please share what you copied with me ^^ give me your email if you don't want to post the link here to avoid the excessive downloads .
@Impakt I don't know what else to shorten them to, but I've seen them referred to as 30A a lot though.
@Rafawell Everything about how the 30A looks in motion pisses me off.
@AngelDust i prefer x264 partly cause most anime sources are only in 8 bit anyway, buty mostly due to the fact that the only device i have capable of dependably playing hevc videos is the new rpi4
@iKaos Thank you for this pack. With this one you have got us past the half-way point. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
P.S.: 30A release is a complete joke and was a great big diss to all the fans - youtube.com/watch?v=TR8eAfJjNEw
I was so hyped about this set when the news first came out and man, what a huge let down.
Guys dragon ball z in amazon prime video japan is the same as dragon box?
I'm trying to login via VPN but I can't so I don't know what the image is like to draw my conclusion ?
@iKaos Are you also going to release the series and movies with remuxed video when you are done in a year or two or should I download the dragon boxes now while they are still available and add your synced audio when you complete this? (I don't mind the additional file size)
@Axe I have no plans to release a remux since this is meant to replace that with a good quality encode. If you want a remux I would download this one: https://nyaa.si/view/1114198 All of my audios should sync no problem to any R2J source.
@IKaos Now that I know you are using Dragon Radar I'm not sure this is correct but I hope you are. I once tried to move the audio from my own personal dragon radar rips and it was a pain. I would have had to delay the audio for every chapter except the opening. I think it had something to do with the way dvdfab or should i say dragon radar requires dvdfab to remove the "junk" vobs via the pathfinder option. In doing this any audio will need to be retimed with the video source to work if it was ripped with a program like handbrake...Once again I hope I'm wrong and your right. Someone please prove me wrong! even if I'm correct, I love your release and have 0 issue keeping it as is. you're doing a great job and I feel like I am one of the first few to get my hands on what will be the best version of dbz for the english audience.
@TheBurner what do you mean you tried to move the audio? You mean you took the audio from your dragon radar rips and tried to fit it into another encode? If the other encode is not from the R2J source then it would surely have sync issues. Also dragon radar can use the R1 source so maybe your rips came from that which would further complicate things. Like iKaos said, his audios will sync up fine only with R2J sourced rips. If you had probs with your dragon radar audio syncing with a totally different source then that's absolutely expected.
@iKaos Very well then, I'll get the video from that one (it beats having to strip the dvd protection and split the episodes). Great work on the syncs btw, the audio alignment looks perfect, thanks for everything.
@roswell57 They were most certainly r2 dbox rips. could I have screwed something up along the way? Yes or it could have been labeled r2 but really be r1. pretty sure the pathfinder option messes with the video to the point were the audio needs to be retimed for a normal rip. I'm looking forward to be proven wrong! it would make moving the audio to new remaster if a proper one ever comes out much easier.
@TheBurner Dragon Radar will only work with the right rips, so if you got something out of it, it should sync to any R2J source. I just tested my audios with a random episode from the remux I linked above, and they all synced with no problem at all.
Good stuff! no clue what my problem was but happy to hear it works. This was a few years ago so I cant remember what I was syncing the audio to. I do remember knowing it needed to be r2j. oh well, I'm happy with what you are giving to us. thank you so much!
@ab8895 probably not for another week or two. These episodes are taking a bit longer because I have to restore the Dale Kelly narration on the original dub track and it takes a bit of work. Got a few other tweaks behind the scenes as well. Hopefully it'll be out before the holidays.
I hope so too.
Also, I was watching the level sets the other day and I noticed there was a bit of a sync issue with the Kikuchi English score in the episode where Goku and Piccolo start fighting Raditz.
It was quite noticeable. You might wanna check that out.
iKaos, thank you for all the work you have done and are continuing to put into this.
I was also worried when I first saw that you modified and looped the OP for the 2000 original funimation DVD singles audio, but I realize now that the opening video is different for the R2J Dragon Box and that you must have had no choice but to modify the length in some way to make it fit.
Sorry to bother you with questions, but I'm building a large dragon ball collection and I need to label this with the correct info and notes. I would very much appreciate if you could answer the following 2 questions.
Can you tell me which source you extracted the TV/VHS NEP's from that you used for the 2000 Original Funimation Dub English Track? I thought the only TV/VHS English broadcast audio was the westwood dub videos that are available everywhere, and I am assuming that is not what you used since that is not the same as the Funimation dub NEP's.
Also for the 2008 Faulconer and Kikuchi funimation English tracks, I was wondering if there was a specific reason I am unaware of that you used audio tracks from Dragon Box & Orange Brick DVD's rather than the Blu-ray season sets. I've never heard what the Blu-ray English tracks sound like. Is there something better about the DVD English audio you used compared to the Blu-ray audio?
@mrbean Questions are no problem, better to be educated about something than not.
Most of the FUNi NEPs come from VHS recordings of the original US Toonami broadcast from 1999-2003, which was the only time that the NEPs were ever actually used. A few of them were released on DVD if the episode came at the end of a disc. Most of the recordings are fairly well circulated on the internet, and I actually see those more often than I see anything for the Westwood dub.
I use the DVD audio for the remastered dubs because I use the program Dragon-Radar, which can batch sync R1 DVD audio to an R2J source. While the BD audio is lossless and has a higher bitrate, generally the difference you can actually hear between the two tracks are incredibly minor and not worth the time it would take me to manually sync the tracks. Also the 5.1 FUNi/Kikuchi track on the R1 Dragon Box is the only one that has the correct OP and the JPN audio for NEPs.
I know you're doing a lot of work on these, which are amazing, but is there any chance you'll also do the original Dragon Ball? Or are there any particular Dragon Ball torrents you'd recommend?
@Mythus54 The group known as "Shen Long" (formerly Pendekar) was my inspiration for this release through their work on Dragon Ball, and chances are they will release a new encode at some point. If not, then yeah I've been thinking about it. It'll be after I'm done with these though.
@iKaos No worries! You're doing Zen-Oh's work. I'm just trying to have a home collection of my favorite anime ever, and since Funimation just can't seem to do a decent release over 20 years, you're the best out there.
@iKaos, thank you very much for the answers to my questions. I was wondering if you could help me with something though.
I have been looking for the past couple of days for a torrent or download of the DBZ funimation dub Toonami broadcast episodes from 1999-2003 that you are talking about. I am not a member of any private trackers, and the only thing I found was 3 torrents that include only episodes 1-92, and there were no seeds, but 2 of them now have a seed. I'm not sure if these are the episodes you are talking about.
Here is the link to the 3 torrents I found thepiratebay.org/search/dbz%20toonami/0/99/0
Do you know of a torrent, or somewhere I can download all 291 episodes (or I think in this case it is 276 episodes)? Hopefully the original files rather than Youtube or low quality streaming. I would really appreciate it very much. I have been wanting that for a very long time and I wasn’t aware that they existed before you told me about it.
If you don’t know of anywhere I can get a good copy of them, would you happen to still have a copy? and would you be willing to upload them?
@mrbean As far as I know there is no torrent or release for ALL Toonami broadcast episodes. The most well known release is from MySpleen (private tracker) that has about 2/3 of all of the episodes in varying quality. Unfortunately I am not a member and I only gained access to those episodes thanks to someone sharing the contents with me. A lot of the episodes are in various places like YouTube and archive.org as well. A long term goal of mine is to compile the best versions of every broadcast episode that exists into a single upload (the MySpleen episodes are all full VHS rips, so they're not broken down into episodes), but like a lot of my long term things it's only something I can work on once I finish this project (assuming I don't quit the fandom after that).
Thanks iKaos, I was driving myself crazy looking for a all 276 episodes in one place. I just assumed they all existed from reading your reply to my first questions.
It would be a shame if you quit the fandom without sharing those DBZ toonami episodes.
If you would be willing to trade, I may be able to get you closer to completing that collection. I have some episodes from YTV in canada from around the year 2002 that I got about a year ago from a google drive link posted on a webpage that is not available anymore. There is a chance you don't have them. The uploader supposedly has vhs tapes of all 276 YTV episodes, and he was supposed to tansfer them all with high quality, but the google drive link has not been updated in a year, and it would take a lot of effort to get in contact with that person which I don't have time to do right now.
Even though you have more episodes than me, if you don't have the episodes that I have, it may be worth us trading everything we have with each other. Also if you never get around to sharing those videos, at least I will have them and will upload them myself one day with your permission when I complete the collection. I am also guaranteed to never quit the fandom.
If you are interested in trading, email me at mrbean444(at)protonmail(dot)com or just leave your email here.
I have 38 DBZ episodes from YTV in 2002 which are:
168 (Partially missing)
169
175-200
204
205
207-209
211 (Partially missing)
212 (Partially missing)
215
216
218
Sorry iKaos, I'm an idot. I clearly labeled those episodes as Ocean dub, but I was in such a rush that I didn't notice. I was sure it was the funimation dub. I wish I could remove that last comment.
The Funimation dub broadcast episodes which that person was supposed to transfer (which I don't have) are Episodes 54-167. I found a way that there may be a small chance for me to be able to contact that person easily enough. If that doesn't work, there is another way that I don't have time for right now. I'm guessing you may already have those episodes, but since he was supposed to transfer them in high quality I will contact you if I ever get a hold of those Funimation broadcast episodes.
@mrbean Yeah I figured out that those were just Westwood episodes, since YTV was Westwood and those match a folder I have from the same source.
You're saying you don't have 54-167, does that mean you do have all the others? Because if that's the case then you have more than me, and I have some of 54-167. You can email me as well 85ikaos at gmail or find me on Discord at the link in the torrent description.
@roswell57 That was specific to how I did the Ocean dub, although it's similar for the singles track. I first run Dragon-Radar two times - once on the R1 DBOX to give me the FUNi/Kikuchi track, chapters, and subs, and a second time on the OBs to give me the Faulconer track (this gives me two copies of the episode video, I delete one of them after extracting the necessary audio).
For the 2000 dub I extract the audio from the singles DVD VOB files at chapter points using DVD Decrypter, which gives me OP, recap, Part A, Part B, ED, and NEP (if it exists) for each episode. I delete the OP and ED as they don't sync properly to R2J (I created a custom looped OP and just use Zenkai Power for the ED). Using Adobe Premiere I load in the R2J DBOX video file created from Dragon-Radar and then manually sync each part of an episode to the video using SFX and scene transitions as a guide. Historically I would also sync the BA at this time, but with several recent releases of R2J synced BA, this step is no longer required.
@iKaos my mistake, didn't realize that post was only in reference to the Ocean dub. Anyhow, hope Gnosis got more details now from your new post. So glad someone with your skills is finally taking on DBZ. I've been waiting for this! :)
@angwk It should be coming today or tomorrow. I had to do a lot of little tweaks this time around, plus I didn't have a lot of time to work on things over the holidays.
