This is a new project I will be starting with Dragon Ball Kai. I'm working with the 16:9 German Kai blurays because I don't mind the crop and there are already 10000 4:3 Kai remuxes and rips on this site. This episode should be final but I'm pretty sick and tired of watching this episode looking for mistakes so I don't think I will ever update it. Episode 2 should be done whenever I can be bothered to continue it. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. I plan on actually completing this one. For anyone wondering about my Naruto project that is on hold until I get all the French Naruto bluray files remuxed or raw. "Will/could you add English dub?" lolno. This took quite a bit of effort to actually get the files in the first place. As well as modifying SD&Taka's fansubs to be in sync with the video. *** Video source: German Kai blurays Audio source: German Kai blurays Subtitle source: Old SD&Taka and Freeze fansubs (https://nyaa.si/view/536773) *** Screenshots: https://slowpics.org/collection/bc6202b4-3a3c-499c-ab7a-e55c9c9bd976 *** General Unique ID : 109148041291146660366350035032863742157 (0x521D25EA7F1DDA297DBCE4DB104118CD) Complete name : K:\My uploads\[Scoped] Dragon Ball Kai 1-167 [BD 1920x1080 x264] [DTA-HD JPN] [END SUB]\[Scoped] Dragon Ball Kai - 001 [BD 1920x1080 x264] [DTSHD-MA JPN] [ENG SUB].mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 File size : 3.78 GiB Duration : 23 min 6 s Overall bit rate mode : Variable Overall bit rate : 23.4 Mb/s Encoded date : UTC 2019-10-25 21:42:04 Writing application : mkvmerge v37.0.0 ('Leave It') 64-bit Writing library : libebml v1.3.9 + libmatroska v1.5.2 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High 10@L5.1 Format settings : CABAC / 16 Ref Frames Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, Reference frames : 16 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 23 min 6 s Bit rate : 21.3 Mb/s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 10 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.428 Stream size : 3.43 GiB (91%) Writing library : x264 core 158 r2984 3759fcb Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=16 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=umh / subme=10 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=24 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=2 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=18 / lookahead_threads=3 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=8 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=2 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=23 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=60 / rc=crf / mbtree=1 / crf=12.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=81 / qpstep=4 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00 Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Audio ID : 2 Format : DTS XLL Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Commercial name : DTS-HD Master Audio Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 23 min 5 s Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 2 136 kb/s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel layout : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 93.750 FPS (512 SPF) Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 353 MiB (9%) Title : Japanese Language : Japanese Default : Yes Forced : No Text ID : 3 Format : ASS Codec ID : S_TEXT/ASS Codec ID/Info : Advanced Sub Station Alpha Duration : 21 min 33 s Bit rate : 102 b/s Count of elements : 264 Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 16.2 KiB (0%) Default : Yes Forced : No *** https://discord.gg/QVyuJw4 ***

Freeze Subs were actually so bad

@Marche It's been 1.5 years since I watched Kai using those subs and honestly I can't remember them for shit. SD&Taka's subs seem reliable but they only did the first 64 episodes and doesn't seem like I have much an option after that so I'm not left with much of a choice.
Go for R1 subs instead

@Marche You don't by any chance have a link for them right?
The German Blu-rays of Dragon Ball Kai are so inconsistent. Kai TFC German Blu-rays are great though.
>“Will/could you add English dub?” lolno. @Scoped, can you include French dub or German dub? The Japanese performances aren't quite as good as in Z. French Kai, Catalàn Kai, German Kai and FUNimation's English Kai dub are HUGE improvements. Rather interestingly, for similar reasons. Infinitely better dub scripts, completely uncensored, the re-casts sound great, and the returning cast members sound better than ever. The official FUNimation version has subtitles done by Steven J. Simmons >Freeze Subs were actually so bad The best subs are Funimation home release, by Steve Simmons, who has been doing DB subs for a long time
The dubs are a step up but unfortunately the replacement score kind of devalues them.
Funimation has the best subs. You can only find them on funimation bd box.

@Tashi No, I only support Japanese tracks for releases unless it's easy to add or if I deem them worthy of admission. I like the Kai English dub but if you're watching anime dubbed there's something wrong with you. I'll check out the Funimation subtitles then and see how easy they are to work with.
why in the fuck would you use shitty old fansubs? the official subs for kai are great and don't need any changes to fit because Kai is digital so the runtimes are the same.
@DaburasBeard He didn't know Simmons subs use faithful translations and transliterations of Japanese terms at all times. The Buu arc of Kai was "remastered" in-house at Toei, whereas the Saiyan/Freeza/Cell arcs had their remastering outsourced to Q-TEC. There is a noticeable quality difference. For starters, the Buu arc is cropped to 16:9/widescreen from the start, whereas the previous arcs were remastered and released in their original 4:3/fullscreen aspect ratio. There is also a green tint to the entire run of the Buu arc

@Daburas I didn't have other subtitle files at the time. I don't trust Funimation either so why would I use their subs? I guess I need to get the subtitle files but from where? Idk. I would gladly take a download link if you have it.
Funimation actually did one thing right in hiring Simmons. He has been a fan since the fansub era and knows his shit.
