Here are the TV vs. BD differences for every episode (in order):

They'll be released once they're done. The remaining episodes are at various people, so we can't progress until they're free and have some time to work on them. As for the BDs, I'm the only one touching those, so they should come out a lot faster.
@Marche I didn't bother comparing, nor do I particularly care if my encodes are better or worse than theirs. v2 has updated encodes and scripts, and includes chapters for the OP and ED (as useless as they actually are).
@Marche ended up doing a comparison here anyway, and the verdict is as follows. Note that I only compared episode 2, and those screenshots were randomly selected (as in actually random, I wrote a function specifically to do that).
[Frame-by-frame comparison](https://slowpics.org/comparison/cece1a8f-9dc3-477c-8be2-fb65ac0379a0) (Note: does not take motion into consideration, so this usually doesn't mean much by itself)
Filesizes (video only): 1.04 GiB (Kaleido) vs 1.38 GiB (LostYears)
Mediainfo: [Kaleido](https://pastebin.com/YDn9UzAH) vs. [LostYears](https://pastebin.com/iNxfZXPK)
Overall LostYears' encode doesn't appear to be properly descaled, leading to slightly blurrier lines. Instead, it was anti-aliased to fix up the lineart.
For some reason that I can't understand, they also have much more blocking and banding than our release, which is odd considering they have a lower crf. Too strong denoising, leading to not enough protective grain perhaps?
Neither of us went out of our way to fix up every bit of chroma banding, which is understandable: chroma banding is very hard to fix up properly, the best you can usually do is hide it with grain, but that can look ugly.
The gist of it is that, realistically speaking, they look similarly enough to where **your average viewer won't be able to tell the difference.** The matters that should decide whether you go with either Kaleido or LostYears depends on:
a) filesize. In my honest opinion, I think Kaleido definitely wins out here, since the quality is overall better and it's also smaller.
but, most importantly:
b) audio. LostYears uses FLAC audio, whilst Kaleido uses AAC. imo there's not really a reason to worry about audio, as for most people they'll sound the same, with FLAC being much, much larger. If you're an audiophile though, I suggest muxing our video with their audio. And before you ask, we do not plan on adding FLAC to our releases.
Another note is the dub. Personally I don't care one bit about the English dub, but if you do, I still suggest you grab their audio, relevant subtitle files, and fonts and mux those in with our video.
Another important factor is:
c) availability. From what I understand, there are no- or few plans to continue releasing Yaiba for LostYears now that we've continued working on it. So far they've released 2 episodes, and we have released 7 (including NCs for those that care about those).
I hope I was fair enough here. I respect the encoder that did Yaiba for LostYears quite a bit, however I feel kinda disappointed with their result overall and would still highly suggest our release over theirs.
The entire filterchain outside of the scaling has been reworked. The denoising in particular is now a lot weaker, resulting in overall more detail and less blur, but also higher filesizes. This is especially noticeable in scenes with dynamic grain, like a lot of Ep1.
So yes, v2 = bigger filesize.
Shouldn't really call it "LostYears" encode since it's actually "Seicher-Raws" that was used, but erm LostYears isn't going to stop releasing the show. Seicher is not encoding further because Kaleido will be continuing it and because they don't have access to the BDMV going forward, however LostYears will continue with Kaleido's video encode adding the dub to it for a dual-audio remux.
Any chance you'd share the lossless audio LightArrowsEXE since you have the BDMV and yet won't be offering it? I can contact you on Discord if desired.
Well, I was just doing it because Aenianos asked me, but now he will wait for this encode.
And I was also making a v2 to release with vl 3:

I'm still quite new to encodes, so it was the best I could do in v2 xP
@nabiru3 For now those are in my backlog, which I'm currently working through. Working on some other projects, but Shield Hero should pop up sooner or later. Oh, on that note, we're not doing S2.
@LightArrowsEXE i don't know why that stupid idea of envy of not uploading the bdmv from some people as if they were losing money or hurting them is stupid if i had a good speed i would upload all my work but i can't
