Bit of an odd release. Was trying to keep file sizes down while preserving quality (lol at the first episode). Different episodes have different encode settings, especially with the first episode I had to increase psy options since the whole episode was fire/smoke/grain/cave/dark scene. Technically episode 24.5 should be just as large as episode 1, but due to it being a recap I suppressed the file size with a low aq-strength

is enabled for reasons.
I included freshly ripped CR subs (font modified). The newer edited version actually isn’t half bad, the LostYears sub is just better with its karaoke and styling. Some good news: since Sushi is being retarded with LostYears subs I manually shifted it, accurate to the frame.
BDMV source is surprisingly good. Some very minor banding in dark scene but a very light deband filter should fix it easily (see Random Stuff section for deband fiter/config).

Are subs also not completely “re-synced” like in Kaguya?

@Stultus Kaguya was mostly done using sushi due to chapter delay (I would need to re-time each episode 5 times if I did it manually). I did double check each episode but they’re mostly 0-3 frames off. This one was done manually so it should be fine, but obviously no promises. I timed it using the sign in the OP for ep13-24. For 1-12 I used the episode sign to frame time it.

Thanks.
PS
Maybe you should make a v2 of Kaguya

So many it’s really annoying.

What’s next?

is there any difference between the tv series and the bluray release?
ApachePrime (uploader)
@Stultus It’s a popular show so other people should have better re-timed subs. I simply don’t have time to re-time every chapter manually, sorry. If you watch on desktop and really find it annoying, set the subtitle offset interval to 41.7ms (1 frame) on your video player and shift the subs while watching.
Mahouka Koukou v2 should be next. Got excited about the S2 announcement and decided to do a proper BDMV encode and not a re-encode. Already have all the disks ready, just need time to actually get to it then spend a week transcoding. Also got Gotoubun disks ready to go.
@Nokou Don’t think so, other than the meh encode CrunchyRoll did.

Thanks!!!

I’m not criticizing you. I just feel it’s a wasted effort. Really, really excellent video :) (including chapters) and subs synced in less than 50% :( .
I’m an amateur, the second half is a mystery for me.
Popular show but no one wants to spend more time on it. All releases are made in a hurry without polishing it.
As for other releases a little better but they’re also not completely re-timed. The difference is yours are 1-2 frame too long while others are 1-2 (or more) frames too short.

I’ll stick with yours;)
Do a better job with Gotoubun please! I’m really waiting for it, please:)

sigh I’ll see what I can do. It’s going to take a while though, quite busy lately.

Hi, this tensura encode looks good video quality.
Skullcrane886
Thank you for your release, the quality of subs and video was really good.
Any chance you will also release season 2 (Part 1 and Part 2) here?
