Naruto Shippuuden - MAL and AniDB
Synopsis:
Moments prior to Naruto Uzumaki’s birth, a huge demon known as the Kyuubi, the Nine-Tailed Fox, attacked Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, and wreaked havoc. In order to put an end to the Kyuubi’s rampage, the leader of the village, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life and sealed the monstrous beast inside the newborn Naruto.
Now, Naruto is a hyperactive and knuckle-headed ninja still living in Konohagakure. Shunned because of the Kyuubi inside him, Naruto struggles to find his place in the village, while his burning desire to become the Hokage of Konohagakure leads him not only to some great new friends, but also some deadly foes.
It has been two and a half years since Naruto Uzumaki left Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, for intense training following events which fueled his desire to be stronger. Now Akatsuki, the mysterious organization of elite rogue ninja, is closing in on their grand plan which may threaten the safety of the entire shinobi world.
Although Naruto is older and sinister events loom on the horizon, he has changed little in personality-still rambunctious and childish-though he is now far more confident and possesses an even greater determination to protect his friends and home. Come whatever may, Naruto will carry on with the fight for what is important to him, even at the expense of his own body, in the continuation of the saga about the boy who wishes to become Hokage.

All 720 episodes of Naruto edited without fillers
For the last three years I attempted at creating my own edit of the Naruto series without fillers. I know that there already exist other edits like the excellent Naruto Kai project, however I was sometimes not exactly happy with some of the cuts and the quality of the raws used. I also wanted to preserve the episodic nature of the series (roughly 23-minute episodes with openings and endings), something that any anime enthusiast is very much used to.
Delgon and Kal for double-checking the episodes and help with encoding and raw searching. Radscale for useful discussions and suggestions.
For now the project is completed, however any suggestions are welcome. The sheer amount of episodes means that there are bound to be some errors in translation, inconsistencies between episodes, etc. Please let me know about it in the comments. Also, if you think further edits are necessary. Finally, if I get my hands on better raws or decide to get better upscales of early episodes, I will update the episodes accordingly.
Folder | Original | Edited | Canon percentage |
---|---|---|---|
Part I | (001-220) | 25+26+26+26+26 = 129 | 58.6% |
Part II | (001-242) | 25+25+25+25+26+26 = 152 | 62.8% |
Part III | (243-500) | 22+22+23+23+23 = 113 | 43.8% |
TOTAL | (720) | = 394 | 54.7% |
Editing example for Naruto 136-220. Scenes ordered according to the manga. Conventional OP-Episode-ED-Preview template used.
Upscaling example for Naruto Shippuuden 134 and comparison with AnimeRG version. Upscales were used if no good quality HD version was available.
Example for Naruto Shippuuden 135 and comparison with a 720p TV RAW.
Due to great number of used RAWs and releases, MediaInfo data has been compressed to one image containing encode info of every group.

Seems like a lot of work.
Appreciated!

Thank you for this! I remember finding “Naruto Kai Project” and that was the only reason I was able to watch the series, was because all the filler was cut out. This is going to be an even greater addition to my collection.
jcubed
thanks, I wasn’t interested in watching Naruto Kai for the same reasons you mentioned (as a first timer), this will be good for me now that I’m a little bit into Shippuuden.
Shix
Awesomeeeee!!!
Great Work. Will be seeding it for sure
shimo
dang bro good job very well, we should keep this torrent not dead
rlee
Thanks!

Shippuuden link does not work.
JySzE
Im not trying to be rude but whoever tried to fix the R2 Naruto dvds did a pretty bad job,
They failed to properly remove the Dot crawl, chroma shift, rainbowing, failed to decimate to 23.976 fps and did something really messed up to the colors. Upscaling was pointless.
Not to mention the HUGE detail loss from the DNR they did.
Haven’t checked out shippuuden yet.
Also why encode the PCM audio to ac3? Flac would of been perfect.
akabane
Is this release way better than Naruto Kai release https://nyaa.si/view/1063188
thanks for all the detailed work.
Delgon (uploader)
@sameer Fixed link. Thanks
@JySzE Why keep FLAC? AC-3 is plenty enough for 720p release. Can you provide some more specific info where, in what episodes and when can it be seen? You can also provide screens but timings would be the best? The upscaled R2 looks much better than anything other on the internet that I could find so I would say it is good enough, it also looked better compared to our upscale of the DVDs so we left it as is. Reencoding it again just to switch from 30000/1001 to 24000/1001 would just destroy either quality or size of the episodes. We tried to make it also as good as possible V/A quality-wise but the most important aspect was to remove all filler BS that was in the Anime.
JySzE
@Delgon here is a comparison, ignore the frame numbers listed they aren’t comparable so i didn’t bother listing them and forgot to delete the original number i had on the comparisons, because you didn’t use a R2 source like i thought you did since you mentioned you used R2DVD sources.
https://imgur.com/a/8Sg1ift < R2 Source with fixes vs your R1 Source with “fixes”?
Also when it comes to Flac EP133 PCM track is 256MB, converting it to flac results in a huge reduction in file size 256MB > 155MB with no loss in quality.
But knowing your source was the R1 DVD’s it wont even have PCM audio. So please disregard my last comment on it before i was only going off your description assuming that it was correct.
This release will inherently look bad due to it being R1 Sourced for Naruto and was ruined further than it was compared to the untouched R1 DVD. I dont need to post comparisons here of that.
I wouldn’t have even commented if i knew the source was R1 lol.
Delgon (uploader)
The whole 1st series are taken from Nezumi raws. We never stated that we did any “fixes”. If you read the whole sentence you would see that upscale was done with Shippuuden. Every episode contains the source of the RAWs/SUBs.
Also, AC-3 audio is just 43MB so 100+MB save on each episode with 99% of the population not being able to distinguish between high bitrate AC-3 and FLAC.
If you are able to provide encodes for the 1st series we would be very glad to use it and release v2 with the improved video quality. This release contains the best quality that is available on the internet right now, nothing less nothing more.
Also isn’t R2J release contain only episodes up to 135? Like those box sets: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/ANZB-3311 (31 & 51)
JySzE
@Delgon
Made me assume “all” meant naruto included. And since i never heard of Nezumi i figured it was a joint project using R2 source. And the lack of info on what source the naruto was from made me think it was R2. The reason i mentioned upscale also is because the naruto episodes from “Nezumi” are upscaled so there was some kind of attempt at fixing or enhancing these by this “Nezumi” who i thought you were working with.
Nah R2J includes the remaining episodes in other releases example: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/ANSB-1852?s_ssid=e3217e5d979bfa60ce
The boxes you posted are just theses “stage” releases in a box set up to ep 134 or 135 like you said but i have the remaining “stage” ones all the up to 220.
If you’d like to work on a v2 of this together id interested in it. You can message me on discord JySzE#0117
Im also going to be fixing the German Shippuden blurays which has DTS-MA for the japanese track also so a kai version of my shippuden and naruto fix would be cool also. Since that would be my preferred way of watching it while still having the option to watch filler also.
Another thing when it comes to ac-3 audio i get what your trying to say but 100MB is nothing in terms of size even per episode. all my fixes are encoded to have high visual fidelity and audio quality id never sacrifice any amount of quality to conserve file size without reaching diminishing returns of a bloated file. Which would be around 1-1.5GB each.
Nebula
@JySzE I’m waiting patiently for your version, and it would be awesome to have a “kai” version of it like this one. Hope you guys can work together.
ZeroviBritannia
Good work but why you used Animerg too?.I mean Animerg uses just rendered 480p(for first 80 episode) Crunchyroll-rip.Original CR quality is way better than Animerg.Somuchmore, hatsuyuki and other TV Versions are great but Animerg is destrong the quality of this torrent…Hope you agree with my comment and say something for that title. If you make a All episode included batch and not use Animerg your torrent will be best
Delgon (uploader)
If you looked at the comparison examples you would notice that we did not take video from AnimeRG so read the description and look at the examples first. Those tags represent base of the subtitles. With shippuuden we searched a lot and video varies, sometimes it is DVD upscale, sometimes some Chinese RAWs sometimes something else. You can assume that video quality is great on this torrent as we tried to a lot of groups and releases and compared them to select the best ones.
ZeroviBritannia
Hmm,I read description for once and I want to ask you(because I didnt get it) In Animerg ones which raw/video you used?If I get it correctly you used them If there’s not better quality for that episodes. If I’m right I want to say you,I am working on my own edits using CR and Somemuchmore subs for first 80 episode True HD with HorribleSubs Font.If you want to talk about this project you can contact to me : Egegege01@gmail.com I am waiting your answer and I will explain more.
clanton
Never watched Naruto as a kid, so this is perfect!
Delgon (uploader)
Ok, gotta stop seeding this one, you have to seed some too guys :P 6+TB should be enough to start it. I’ll resume it on my seedbox when it will be needed but right now I need it for other stuff too.

@Delgon Hey have you seen my Second comment?
Nokiya
Well this popped out of nowhere. I was planning and preparing to do something similar. Downloaded over 400 gigs of all kinds of Naruto raws to find the best.
Either way unless you did major overhaul of each episode’s translation and removed americanization garbage, I won’t be satisfied and will edit subs.
If you can work with JySzE to make even better release then that’s great :)

So I finally got around to check the quality of episodes.
Naruto (all of them, not NS) are absolutely abysmal. Terrible yellow hue or whatever you call it.
I guess you missed Yellow Flash’s release? Only 89 episodes before they died, but fantastic quality.
Comparison:
https://imgur.com/a/LFxT0vL
https://i.imgur.com/jybQ94j.jpg - this
https://i.imgur.com/uB7raxs.jpg - yelloflash
https://yellowflash9502.wordpress.com/ - I have them all if needed.
Also, due to stretching few millimeters of video are missing on top and bottom (your version)
YF’s version is sharper as well in some areas.
There is another version, which is superior to the one used here, SB raws (at least in the coloring and no stretching)
https://nyaa.si/view/467788
There are all episodes except the filler + canon snippets ones, meaning first 135 eps.
I compared all of them and this version is truly terrible in comparison. So yellow.
I guess im just repeating what JySzE said
Luckly, there was not much editing done in Naruto episodes because they’re all pretty much canon 100%, so its easy to replace.
I’ll stick with Yellow-Flash 1-89 + SBraws 90-135 and your last 2 due to snips.
I will look at Shippuuden ones later.
Also, I’m seeding this almost every day for many hours during daytime in Europe, if anyone needs it try to get it at those hours.
Nearing 400 gigs with my small upspeed. Cheers.
Nokiya
Ok I’ve went over quite a few NS episodes.
Can’t really judge it because its not all the same source as Naruto.
Each episode would have to be compared.
Some are great, others have been damaged due to re-edit (canon cutting), some are meh etc…
2DSamurai
@Nokiya Do you have yellow-flash’s releases? The one’s on nyaa have no seeds. It’d be greatly appreciated if you could provide some kind of link/torrent.
vikrant9760
Does this not have ep 479 onwards for Shippuden? Since the detailed edit info and info of torrent mentions you stopped at 479 but there are two eps which cover 479-500!
I would hate it if u took out the wedding arc lol
Xinsar
I just realized that some of the opening like Blue Bird is skipped in this batch. Is it or am I just skipping too much opening on episode?

Best Naruto Batch:
https://nyaa.si/view/1246892 - [Yellow-Flash] Naruto (10bit, 768x576, FLAC)
— Source: DVD R2 EP001-136 (DVD R1 for cuts from episode 220)
— Video: CRF 14 768×576 10bit.
— Audio: JAP 2.0 FLAC
— Subs: DVD R1 mixed with AonE
Best Naruto Dual Audio Batch:
https://nyaa.si/view/385196 - Naruto Season 1-9 (2002) [Dual Audio] [BlueDragon][A-A] [DVDRip] [SD 480p]
— Source: DVD R1
— Video: 640x480, 29.970fps, 364-926 kbits, H264
— Audio Track 1: English, 192 kbits, 2.0, AC3
— Audio Track 2: Japanese, 192 kbits, 2.0, AC3
— Subs: Softsubs, English, Styled, VobSub
[Yellow-Flash] have the best video quality (8 years of work to find a good way to remove most of the dotcrawl and rainbowing without sacrificing video detail, with the best source: R2J) and the best Japanese audio quality (JAP 2.0 FLAC, with the best source: R2J JAP 2.0 PCM) and full English subtitles (DVD R1 mixed with AonE)
[BlueDragon][A-A] have the second best video quality (however it is R1 source, it have the best R1 DVDRip encode) and second best Japanese audio (JAP 2.0 AC3) and the best English audio (ENG 2.0 AC3) and however the English subtitles is in old yellow stile, it is soft-sub, easily changeably
However, [Yellow-Flash] and https://nyaa.si/view/467788 [SB-raw][NARUTO][1-26][R2DVDRIP][x264_ac3] have the same source, [Yellow-Flash] have 8 years of work to find …, better video quality, better audio quality (it have FLAC audio from the JAP 2.0 PCM of R2J, while [SB-raw] have only AC3 audio, lossy audio)

I’ve found old hardsubbed releases made from HDTV sources for episodes 124-126, which are upscaled from DVD in this torrent. Luckily there isn’t much non-canon material in them and they have better video quality. I’ve uploaded them to MEGA in case anyone is interested https://mega.nz/folder/ikRxwCIA#JBJ8jPluBU_0OTfcF3k27A
This torrent has the best overall sources for Shippuden’s season 3 onwards, all good HDTV rips. It’s not possible to find Shippuden’s seasons 3-8 in any other format other than DVD, and except for the three episodes I mentioned above everything is excellent quality, and the filler removal is much appreciated. Shippuden’s first two seasons also look good, but since the raws come from different encodes some episodes look better than others. Apparently AnimeRG labeled episodes use SB-RAW’s encodes, which are so far the best possible source for the old 4:3 SD episodes https://nyaa.si/view/422623 I haven’t been able to identify the source of the somuchmore labeled episodes, but they don’t look as good as SB-RAW. The encodes for classic Naruto do not look good at all. Yellow-Flash has much better video and also removes filler https://nyaa.si/view/1246892
Even though SB-RAW has the best possible DVD sources for Naruto, the torrent for the first 53 episodes of Shippuden is dead. Unless someone is able to unearth these files somewhere, Yellow-Flash’s 10-bit 768x576 encodes go along well SOFCJ’s encode for Shippuden’s first 2 seasons, since they’re also SD 4:3 https://nyaa.si/view/833880 I’d advise downloading SB-RAW’s classic Naruto episodes soon, these aren’t well seeded but the MEGA links are still alive

This is pretty awesome. Thanks a million, we really appreciate the effort.
I was just wondering since you said that the translations were taken from different sources, are the subtitles consistent? I mean, same font and format for every episodes. It’s pretty off-putting (for a lack of a better word) watching subbed episodes where the font changes from time to time.
Thanks a lot for hearing me out.

Beautiful stuff. I watched Naruto Kai way back but wanted to see how this compared. Tbh the image is clearer, episodes are not hours long, and really feels like how the show should have been without filler. Only watched 3 eps so far so can’t speak to the quality of the whole set, but so far so good!
