@LightArrowsEXE Oh no, that's cool and all. I meant it more personally. I can hardly tell the difference between a bdmv and a good re-encode so they really don't appeal to me. Might be just me being a n00b
@AuroraMist Yeah I share the same feeling. BDMVs are the best possible consumer release and (most of the time) have the best quality plus some other bonus content for the dedicated fan. To me they are purely for archival purposes as source material because who knows what happens to these things when I want to watch them years down the road.
I grab encodes most of the time because it seems that remuxes are much less popular and custom modifications to the video stream such as filtering and sharpening can increase the visual quality.
@Prime You're saying that re-encodes sometimes have better quality than the source BDMV? That is only if the BDMV came with maybe not great sharpening, for example, right?
I like BDMVs because like you said, it usually already comes with the audio CDS, and I just love the BD menu for some reason. Something really cool about choosing the chapter and accessing the episodes from the BD menu lol. Thanks so much for your contributions!!
@DmonHiro Might wanna reread what I wrote. I PERSONALLY don't find bdmvs appealing since I can hardly tell the difference in quality despite their humongous size. One would assume that such a giant uncompressed file would be tiers ahead in quality, right? Never implied encodes magically appear out of nowhere w/o the bd source
@Prime That's understandable. I guess bdmvs are the safest from an archival pov. I've never really been too big on the bonus content no matter how much I like a series (except some ost) so yeah......
>who knows what happens to these things when I want to watch them years down the road
I've never thought about that. heck I've never thought about what I'd be doing with my life years down the road lmao
Thank fucking shit fuck Christ I came to my senses and realized this wasn't the new remastered and extended BD box set, which FYI isn't even out yet until October. I already fucking wasted my life torrenting the entire 256 GB piece of shit, and start remuxing to mkv, realised the piece of shit PGS subs don't work on Handbrake or TV and started to OCR check through EVERY LAST MOTHER FUCKING EPISODE....and then decided to pull up my old UTW/NoobSubs folder of F/Z and ran a side by side comparison of a few episodes only to realise THEY LOOK EXACTLY THE FUCK SAME and any illusions I had of this 256 GB fucking piece of trash looking shinier and better than what I had previously remembered the show to look like was all hallucinations....
Jesus H fuck, I can't imagine what I would've been like if I hadn't realised at all and gone through hard encoding the subs into all 25 episodes and then ran quality control checks on everything, after having already fucking spent 3 days on this shit, only to find out at the end that this wasn't the new and improved BD Box set THAT ISN'T EVEN FUCKING OUT YET.
FUCK YOU. WHO THE FUCK BOTHERS TO UPLOAD THIS 11 FUCKING YEAR OLD NEWS NOW???!! When there was already plenty of other fucking copies out there. And why the fuck people are commenting on this torrent now giving off the wrong impression that it's fresh shit...and not 10 years ago...THIS ISN'T FUCKING NEW MATERIAL. THIS SHIT HAS BEEN OUT FOR A DECADE.
FUCK THE LOT OF YOU. 3 DAYS OF MY FUCKING LIFE WASTED ON SOMETHING THAT NOOBSUBS/UTW ALREADY FUCKING DONE YEARS AGO. SEE YOU FUCKERS IN OCTOBER WHEN THE REAL EXTENDED BD BOX IS OUT.
@Switchrescore This is the raw BluRay of the original disks released years ago. I'm not sure if the upcoming re-release will be better in quality, but if you want a good encode now check out SCY's at around 100GB (H.264) or VCB-Studio's at around 50GB (HEVC).
Also looking for the new set but found nothing yet, it supposedly contains unaired extended episodes (however, they might have already been released in other box sets from what I've read, in fact this torrent may contain those actually), not sure if it has other extras. If it does then that is all it's good for as it appears to be only 4 discs in total, considering we've got 10 discs in this torrent, and I believe 8 discs in a previous US release, I'd say the new set is probably inferior in quality, unless each of its discs is 50gb, which is unlikely.
Until the BDMVs show up somewhere, there isn't really any way of knowing. It would be nice if there was more information. The official website is extremely lacking.
@pixels 's google drive files are broken btw, it's compressed in multiple .7z and box 1 disc 4 it's missing 1 whole part, and box 2 disc 3, 4 and 5 seem to be incomplete
