@aHalokid Bloatrice-Raws just don't know how to use it.
Guess I cant escape from Aniplex subs
hope someone finds animation material somewhere
You go East (Moozzi2), You go West (ReinForce). Beatrice-Raws is the BEST!!
Is this better than VCB Studio
@Kamiyan93, We just know how to use it best of all) https://slowpics.org/comparison/80a0ac44-4cc0-4758-972e-d513c5a5a45a
are the subs good tho (i can dream)
Is this PGS subs? Thanks for this anyways!
@SomaHeir Haven't downloaded it but looking at the Mediainfo on Animetosho shows that it's using PGS.

@Jensen ![](https://i.ibb.co/tJTN6Q1/image.png)
How would you guys rate between Beatrice, Moozzi, ReinForce, since they usually all come out with the same blu-ray? Pretty much the same thing other than Moozzi's editing of the sharper lines?
Reinforce is unfiltered. Moozzi tends to destroy everything with his excessive filtering. Beatrice is overall fairly good and reliable.
Just stay away from moozzi in general, even his non-filtered encodes are subpar
Most raws are bad because you get either bad encode (Moozzi), or full bloat (Beatrice). Reinforce is both bad and bloated at the same time. Somehow.
Reinforce is only as bad as their source is. But on the flip side, that also means they're only as good as their source is.
I got a 10 TB hard drive, this is nothing
Moozzi doesnt destroy everything, hes sort of like a deity casting destruction selectively on certain encodes, others are fine. More importantly he has uploaded many things are unavailable elsewhere which is/was his strength. Many anime simply has bad raws especially modern ones, people cry foul if you filter something that has fake grain in it to begin with. But I disagree with removing grain or cleaning up retro remasters generally, though they can be horribly grainy by default. Reinforce is good for archival purpose but good luck getting seeds after a while. All his encodes are the biggest filesize imaginable. Beatrice is the best but slower/later than every1 else and unfinished projects. That said Moozzi is undoubtedly the largest portion of any single encoder in my collection.
Great, so I guess it is choosing the lesser of the 3 evils? So, going forward for archival purposes if the option is there, 1. Reinforce, 2. Beatrice, 3. Moozzi then? Who would be better then? I've heard VCB is good even though he uses HEVC? I guess I still have the old school mindset of bigger size = better quality.
@ichi1 just dl this and mux the subs from https://nyaa.si/view/1170190 bro
@nahlij You've got plenty of encodes from subbed releases that are better than raw group releases. If you want to find the best encode per series, you have very little choice but to manually compare every encode yourself. It's easy to just say "X is always better, go with X!", but encoding is a far more subjective process than people are willing to give it credit for, and so is viewing it.
This is why I always download 1 episode from a couple of releases and compare them. The one I think looks the best is the one I'll keep which doesn't need to be one of the 4 groups listed here. That being said most of the time I tend to like VCB's releases a bit more but of course, that's not always the case. A friend of mine finds comparing releases isn't worth it but I have to disagree on that.
@LightArrowsEXE @NoAvalon I've definitely done that before a few times, but those few times I couldn't really find many differences. It might just be that I'm watching on a 15" MacBook Pro and to me they all look good lol. I guess that is another misconception I have: thinking the raws uploaded on here are better quality than the english-translated uploads.

Atm the two best video sources are This release and -https://nyaa.si/view/1169388 Subtitles have been posted above somewhere that are decent enough for now. (haven't checked the timings for dialogue though to see if scene bleeds are fixed up)
@Kamiyan93, You need better equipment to appreciate this.
@AC_ You're sure those video sources are better than the BDMV from U3? https://nyaa.si/view/1169366 That's the version I have. Maybe you're only talking about BD rips
@nahlij https://slowpics.org/comparison/8c4bceaf-0133-4dfa-b496-4f34b2625589
I must not have good enough equipment because this https://slowpics.org/comparison/a3bf1ed4-f943-4c05-8892-bd41ddeff567 all 3 look exactly the same for me lol... anyone else? What is it that I need to be able to appreciate the good quality blu ray releases?
@nahlij In that comparison the biggest difference is the amount of grain/noise, not sure about Beatrice but VCB is probably using a scene-adaptive de-noise scheme again. Also, I feel like the boxes in the background for both versions are slightly more blurry than in the original BD version. Not sure about anything else but those are the things I noticed.
![@nahlij](https://i.ibb.co/Yjc52G0/Screenshot-20190826-023511.jpg) Loss from de-noise/shortage of bitrate at the vcb more. BD frame - benchmark for quality. (Except for line art). The choice depends on what is more important to you.
Jensen, Line art is most important to me. Is line art in your encode equally good as the BD?
It's better than the original because of generic rescale AA from 855p. https://slowpics.org/comparison/8c4bceaf-0133-4dfa-b496-4f34b2625589
Jensen, thank you. nahlij, I meant no offense. Literally at least a 500 euro DELL monitor and a decent or half-decent Graphisc Card like an old GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition, if you can get them used. Because those two are the most important components that are displaying stuff you see and LOOK AT. So yeah there IS QUALITY difference between stuff displayed by a high-end graphics card and a low-end graphics card, and Display (monitor) is equally important of course + knowledge how to tweak and fine-tune them. At least 2560x1440 or 3840x2160 resolution, DELL ONLY MONITOR. I'm talking about DESKTOP computers and from 10 years of experience.
@FrostbiteStardust Dell is not the only company capable of buying matrix from samsung, japan display, innolux or lg and tuning it. even more, it seems like pre-calibration is spreading nowadays even for consumer monitors. Similarly, there are calibration standards for graphics cards.
@FrostbiteStardust You don't really need that much to see the differences. A decent monitor and a Mid-Range GPU are enough to spot the differences as long as you configure/calibrate everything correctly. Sure you probably won't see the smallest changes in details but for his case I don't think that's really necessary.

Posted them elsewhere but for those who want the subtitles fixed up a bit (nothing major) * Edited the position of the subtitles as I hate them being rite at the bottom of the video * Size of dialogue also increased a bit. -https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Tz5zlFoiJGSRUkE-vWjg-AKoBOxk6BVK Subtitle Source - https://nyaa.si/view/1170190
@Jensen the backgrounds in the original are a little sharper, although indeed some of the aliasing of original (cuz its probably 3d) is eliminated. I guess it's inevitable -i believe backgrounds, 3d, can be higher res than animation (more than 855).
NoAvalon, I believe the minimum standard for "decent" would be DELL Alienware AW2518H and DELL UltraSharp U2719DC. Anithing below that is insufficient. I don't care where DELL buys the matrix, as long the monitor I buy is DELL, that is most important to me. A GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition can be bought used in 10/10 condition these days really cheap, and in this day and age that's min-range performance, trust me, beats anything new for the same price. But yeah I get what you're saying, sort of - it always matters how much a person is a fan of something. In his case, yeah, he doesn't need that much.
@frozenkex no. The entire source has a resolution of 855. Animations, backgrounds, scene elements etc. are created in different software using vector graphics, so even 4K won't match such accuracy. Then those raw materials are put together in composing stage of production. This is where they got rasterized in 855p or such resolution and where postprocessing, lights etc. are applied. Complexity and cost of composing raising quickly with resolution — that's why it may seem quite low for 2019. At the end, completed composing project is send to some studio involved in production to render the composing project, add credits, upscale to 1080, author BD and TV, and so on. >Backgrounds in the original are a little sharper, although indeed some of the aliasing of original. That's how AA works. It blurs the edges of the lines In the phase of cancellation of up artifacts.
Could always contra sharpen it if you really want the lines to become sharper again afterwards. Although this might end up undoing some of the AA.
hey guys, so to sum it up, is this release has good sub and good video quality? quite some complicated talk you got there and I still couldnt tell if this one is good or not
@vinita The encode's by no means bad. It's rather good, even. The only concern (atleast imo) is the filesize, which will differ from the person to person.
oh god the comment section is getting spicy. either way if you guys dont like the way he did it common sense always has told us just go somewhere else or buy the bluray yourself. either way this post he made is quite awesome and love the colors.
vinita, Beatrice-Raws is the best. Jensen is their best encoder and highly possible the single very best anime encoder on the internet. Beatrice-Raws are literally the only encoding team who make video quality even better than the original BD. This is the best possible release. This release particular filesize is SUPER SMALL. LightArrowsEXE obviously doesn't know that we are in 2019 and that 4 TB or 10 TB HDD's are dirt cheap. If anyone doubts the quality, just download and watch the BD. I'm so sick of plebs who spend more on car fuel than they do on their crap of a computer. LightArrowsEXE maybe you should stop with credit cards, get some real cash in your hands and maybe you will realize a decent 10 TB Hard Disc Drive is affordable. https://nyaa.si/view/1169479
My favorite meme is idiots like @FrostbiteStardust coming in and instantly raising the pitchfork the moment you utter anything that could even be perceived as negative about his favorite encoder.

My favorite meme is plebs like @LightArrowsEXE coming in and complaining about big filesize in 2019. Trailerpark logic scrambled your brain. Just admit it, your computer is a toaster.
shit I couldnt play any video in the batch with mpc, this happens every now and then whenever I download BD movies, any idea how to fix this guys?
@vinita Try VLC media player or another player. There shouldn't be any reason why you can't play it.

@Jensen >Filtering: generic rescale AA from 855p What do you mean by this? Is the source not blu-ray or the source blu-ray resolution only 855p?

Massive noob here. Can someone help me play the 5.1 audio with the video?
Thanks! Beatrice never disappoints
@Susakito >Massive noob here. Can someone help me play the 5.1 audio with the video? Download MPCHC player; Put both audio and video in the same folder, they need to have the same name (not the same extension); Open the video with MPC-HC; * Right click, audio track, choose the audio if you already have a good video player, skip installing MPC-HC, go directly to * @tangerinezzz >I’m not a big fan of these subs, are there any better subs I can use? Always interesting to know what filters and choices you did. Thanks !
@ichunjo https://github.com/Beatrice-Raws
@Kamiyan93 You clearly don't understand what "bloat" is. These RAW groups are pumping out videos with large file sizes because they don't want to ruin the quality of the animation with severe compression settings. Consider buying a dictionary instead of misusing terms, cunt. Also some of these RAW groups are catering to different audiences. Reinforce is catering to people who want 8-bit H.264, Beatrice-Raws is catering to people who want 10-bit HEVC, Mozzi is catering to people who want filtered 8-bit H.264, VCB is catering to people who want 10-bit HEVC and so on.
How to use the 5.1 Audio file?
@takanesbuttisgreat I thought I was the only one that was confused with Kamiyan93's use of "bloat". Thanks for the clear up. I didn't know Reinforce's uploads were 8-bit.
@BrotherZone >How to use the 5.1 Audio file? I just answered it above... (https://youtu.be/vPtAtc9yuQw)
Kamiyan93 you're retarded bro. Go get laid.
@Jensen > https://github.com/Beatrice-Raws What's cooldegrain? I didn't find it anywhere.

Trusted
'coz it's my own mvtools wrapper for MDegrain.
i dont know a thing so i will just simply ask what is better 10 bit HEVC or 8 bit x264
Is there any good x264 encode? My phone doesn't play HEVC properly
