New encode, TLC, and OP + ED KFX. We cannot provide a patch due to the encode being redone. >anon TLC sounds trustworthy
Hi herkz, how's it going
why 720p? Isn't tge native resolution 1080p?
It's only 720p native according to anibin.
Well anibin must be wrong then. I use mpv with ravu r4 and ewa_lanczos and the CGI, some of the backgrounds and character line art are noticeably blurrier in 720p. This anime is definitely not 1080p due to all the aliasing but it's not just 720p either. Edit: I compared shots at the start of episode 2.
idk man, [looks like 720 to me](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/300947822956773376/607140868499177472/vlcsnap-2019-08-03-11h20m40s.png.png). Have you tried using a source that you are sure is 100% properly descaled @xell17, or did you just grab HorribleSubs 720p and figured that'd prove anything? For all we know, the encoder of whatever you checked is just incompetent (which is a pretty likely case).
@LightsArrowsExe I used this release and Foxtrot's. Maybe my setup is just borked.
@xell17 Here's a quick comparison I did. [Reupscaled to 1080p using nnedi3_rpow2](https://slowpics.org/comparison/ad4cc9ea-ea61-4b29-a814-a67b511f15e0) (can't use ravu in VS, so I had to pick the next best option) [Close-up of one of the frames](https://slowpics.org/comparison/3ec5f1ed-c146-4668-b15d-9ce6cfaaa74f) [Script](https://hasteb.in/okosoxeh.py) The results is clearly sharper when descaled and reupscaled properly. I can't vouch for the encoders having descaled it, but the results speak for themselves.
@LightsArrowsExe Thanks. I ditched ravu. It was doing something akin to line darkening for me for some reason. Currently testing FSRCNNX and needi3 and it looks a lot better.
np. I'm perfectly fine with running ravu myself, so I'll stick with that. Maybe I should check out some other stuff at some point, though.
