The "Apollo" in the subs throws me off. They don't translate Hestia as Vesta, so I wonder why they translate Apollon into Apollo.

It's "Apollo" in the LN and the manga, I don't think Oomori is adhering strictly to Greek Mythology vs Roman. Also, in a later volume of the LN, Hestia tells Bell that her other name is Vesta, and it becomes the name for his new technique "Argo Vesta" which is a combo of casting Firebolt, then Argonaut on the Hestia Knife. So yeah, maybe the Gods do have many names (we find that out even more in Sword Oratoria).

It's a minor issue, but hearing Apollon and seeing Apollo is like hearing Hestia and seeing Vesta in the subtitles. That's what I was pointing about, the audio/sub disparity. EDIT: Here's an analogy. Imagine watching something like Ikkitousen, and then you see some names in Japanese variants (e.g. Ryuubi Gentoku) while some are in Chinese (e.g. Guan Yunchang). I don't have any issue if they want to use either, but mixing both is weird and it can get confusing. It's either the names from the source, or what are in the actual dialogues. But really, it's only a minor issue from the last episode, I heard both Apollo and Apollon but both are TL'd as Apollo. I just thought I'd point it out.

@ Tennouji ... a LONG time ago I kind of guessed to myself that it's a "Japanese" thing ... except for Loki, they tend to butcher the names of the Norse gods as well ... as they do a LOT of non-Japanese names and words ... it is just as hopelessly confusing the way Japanese names show up written in sub-titles, manga, and light novels ... and the way I keep hearing them pronounced by Japanese voice actors on Japanese anime ... like the character Mikihiko Yoshida from the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei story ... I see his name written as Mikihiko ... but on the anime it is pronounced as "Mikishko" ... so where the "sh" sound comes from is beyond my understanding ... maybe if I saw the name written in hiragana, or saw it in kanji with the furigana right next to it I might see where the "sh" sound comes from ... or like the way there are always the two different ways of seeing senpai and sempai written in manga/LN's and sub-titles

It's different in this one, I keep hearing Apollon from Bell's dialogue so I'm sure that there's some disparity with the dubbing. I never noticed anything off from Mahouka, but the senpai/sempai is always pronounced with "m". It isn't exclusive in Japanese AFAIK, "n" or "ng" sounds turn to "m" in vernacular speech when followed by other labial consonants (b, p, f, v) since it's easier to pronounce them successively.

Komugi : it's not butching. Apollo is his latin name, his original one, from the greek mythology is Apollon. And they really say Apollon in this, cuz they are using the greeks name for the ''european old mythology '' Hestia would be Vera otherwise, hermes would be mercury etc etc.
