If you read the last few pages of the forum thread from where this patch originates from, you'll see that there's intent to release an updated version with higher resolution graphics and widescreen support within the next week or so, but it sounds like it might only support Windows 7 and newer. So if you're not super impatient or aren't on XP or Vista for whatever reason, then it'd probably be wiser to wait a few days and just get the updated version instead.
