### This torrent is obsolete, please go here for the new one: [1170280](https://nyaa.si/view/1170280) *** **Updates:** 1. This release concludes the Namek "Season 2" episodes. Also included is the Bardock Special as well as Movie 3 with the Saban/Ocean Dub that Pendekar left out, synced to the new-ish 1080p WEB-DL release. 2. The Ocean Dub track ends with episode 66 (S02E27), and so it is replaced with the Original FUNi Dub from 1999 staring with 68. Episode 67 is a weird hybrid of the two since Saban/Ocean's last episode ended in the middle of 67, with FUNi's first episode picking up at the same spot and finishing out the episode. Both dubs are included on the same track for that episode. 3. Original FUNi Dub elements for 68-74 are reconstructed mostly from the original Single DVDs, however for the Ginyu episodes those don't have Recaps or NEPs, so those come from various VHS sources. 4. The source for the Broadcast Audio track is still WinXBloom/Team Mirolo. I was already mostly done with this release when all the shenanigans started over dropping new audio sources, so I elected to release this as-is in order to get the completed Ocean Dub out there. 5. I've decided that with the new Broadcast Audio appearing, I want to go back and re-examine my older releases. I've refined my techniques a lot over the past year and I believe I can create an even better release that utilizes both the new BA, some improvements to the Ocean track, and my own encodes of the Level Sets. I will probably also switch to the R2J DBOX for v2s of "Season 2" and all future releases, since if I have to manually sync the BA anyway, I might as well do it the highest quality source. *** *These episodes are compiled from the following sources. Unless otherwise specified, I am the original encoder for all elements:* **Video:** 4x3 480p R1/US Dragon Box - *from raw ISOs* **Audio - 4 tracks:** 1. Japanese Mono Broadcast Audio - *as originally released by WinxBloom1980 (all episodes use the re-timed versions by Team Mirolo)* 2. English 2007 5.1 FUNimation "Remastered" Dub w/Shunsuke Kikuchi score - *from the R1/US Dragon Box,* 3. English 2005 2.0 FUNimation "Ultimate Uncut" Dub w/Nathan Johnson score (60-67), "Remastered" Dub w/Faulconer Productions score (67-74), - *from the "Season" Blu-Rays* 4. English 1998 2.0 Saban/Ocean Dub (60-67) - *A re-creation of the original English dub, custom made by me, with gaps filled in with the FUNi/Kikuchi dub in an attempt to create a relatively seamless nostalgic viewing experience. Sourced from the "Rock The Dragon" DVD Set* 1999 2.0 Original FUNimation Dub (67-74) - *custom track from the Single DVDs, with some elements from VHS* Bardock Special uses R2J as the source, with R2J Japanese, Ishikawa BA (from Kei17/ AnimeMaakuo), 2 Remastered FUNi Dubs (Kikuchi and replacement scores), and the Original 2000 FUNi Dub with replacement score (from the original single DVD). Movie 3 uses AMZN WEB-DL as the source (originally recorded by Arian, re-encoded by me), R2J 2.0 Japanese Audio, 2 FUNi Dubs (Kikuchi and replacement scores), the uncut Pioneer/Ocean Dub, and the edited Saban/Ocean Dub created by me. [MediaInfo](https://pastebin.com/ZKG4m2m9) *** **FAQ (mostly from comments of previous videos):** 1. **What is this?** A release of Dragon Ball Z that meets my visual and audio requirements, that I'm also sharing here with you. I release in small chunks followed by a large batch release at the end of each "season". 2. **Who are you?** I'm a semi-professional video editor doing this for fun. Like most people of a certain age I grew up with the show on Toonami but came to appreciate the original Japanese version as being the far superior version of the show. Nevertheless, I have a nostalgic attachment to the older English dubs and want to preserve them with the best video quality available. I am not happy with other releases of the Dragon Box because they are either bit-starved or have inferior audio options. 3. **How much of the series are you doing?** I plan on releasing the whole series. All episodes will have the Ocean Dub track through episode 67, and from there I will replace the track with the original 1999 FUNi dub, in all of its nostalgic glory. I have no plans to do any other Dragon Ball series or movies, although I will cover the TV specials when I get to the episodes they aired between. Thanks to everyone here who provides feedback and support.

Very nice, though I'm surprised you didn't use any of the BA's from the nyaa shitfest last week, Lol.

Like I said, I was already mostly done, and I didn't want to sync new BA to this video if I'm just going to replace them with R2J encodes later and have to sync them again. Plus I'm still trying to get the AnimeMaakuo torrent, and I don't really want to wait any longer.
Ah, makes sense.
Congratulations! From my outside view the hard part is done. Hopefully the rest of the seasons go quick so you can have your ideal copy of DBZ. Thank you so much for sharing! cant wait for the rest of them.
"however for the Ginyu episodes those don’t have Recaps or NEPs, so those come from various VHS sources." Woah, woah, woah, hold on a moment...are you telling me the 1999 Funimation dub / dub OST will include the NEP audio for ALL of that dub's episodes (68-291)? There is not a single release I'm aware of (Granted, I've never seen the VHS releases.) that has the audio for that. Where did you find it if not on the VHS releases? "I’ve decided that with the new Broadcast Audio appearing, I want to go back and re-examine my older releases." I presume this means you are going to re-release an updated "Season 1" torrent?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Damned While I have been trying to track down as many NEPs as I can (mostly from Kametsu, YouTube), I don't have all of them, and I don't know how many I'll have when I start doing "season 3". I was more referring to the fact that the Ginyu DVDs don't have NEPs nor recaps, but the other singles have all the recaps and one NEP per DVD. I know the rest exist out there in the wild somewhere from VHS rips recorded Toonami episodes, but I haven't found them. I am indeed going to do an updated season 1 torrent. Can't give a timetable but it's the next thing I'm working on.
How do you capture videos from YouTube? IDM seems like it's the best way and the method I've been using for a while now (mostly snatch music from YouTube Music which comes in OPUS which admittedly it's always around 130~140 Kbps but meh, I don't mind -- It's to listen on budget speakers anyway so why bother getting lossless).

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Super_Saiyan_Lusitano I use 4K Video Downloader - it's fine, the source is already compressed since it's from VHS and on YouTube.
Just curious, how come you didn't use the ac3 audio codecs from the Funimation singles? Or rather, how come you chose aac instead of ac3? I don't know much about these things, but isn't ac3 considered better most of the time?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@boobychan It is my understanding that people use ac3 for compatibility as it's an older codec, or that they're using the track straight from the DVD (as I do with the English/Kikuchi track). I believe that as long as the aac settings are set accordingly, there's not really a difference. The workflow is also a bit easier for me as I can do aac straight out of Premiere.
I see. Okay, thanks.
Hey, you plan on syncing the Ocean Dub of Movies 1-3 to the TOEI HD remasters? The Amazon stream copy seems to look a bit better than the Blu-ray.

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Super_Saiyan_Lusitano I already did movie 3 here - Had no plans to do 1 and 2, but I might later. I've heard about some of the Blu Ray issues so this might be the best we're going to get.
@iKaos Sorry about that, yeah, Movie 3 is here. Movies 1 and 2 have an exceptionally amazing dub by the Ocean cast and especially Movie 2 where Peter Kelamis even goes full-on Masako Nozawa with that breathtaking Kaio-ken moment. Ocean Dub sadly only dubbed the first 3 Z movies so it'd be nice to have their dub synced with the new remasters. Thanks, anyhow.
Hey, do you have ISOs or MKVs of volumes 1-27 and 44-56 of the original Dragon Ball Z singles releases?
these are amazing. waiting for the next batch.
@ iKaos i know you prob a year away from getting to it buti found a link to the westwood dub if you decide to include it https://mega.nz/#F!WEEGwD4b!wImrVaMHlize_ogLy6nV5g thank you for all you do, its been a pleasure rewatching the old toonami dub

I am working on a refined season 1 torrent while I look for a new source for the English replacement audio for 75+ (my old source was on Kametsu and now it's gone). I currently don't have a timetable but I assure you I am still working on these.
This is absolutely amazing, thank you so much for this. As someone just getting back into DBZ after the new Broly movie came out, this is the definitive way to watch Dragonball Z. Hell I just made an account to thank you. Keep up the good work, I eagerly await your future releases Edit: Any timeline for when the refined season 1 torrent will be released? I know anything past episode 75+ will take some time...

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Dexidious no timeline at this time. I work for an hour or so every day (depending on my schedule) in batches, meaning right now I'm refining the Saban/Ocean track for every episode, then when I'm done with that I will sync the new Broadcast Audio to the level set footage, and lastly I will re-encode the level sets myself directly from the source (the originals are a re-encode of a re-encode because I had not acquired the original source yet, and lack grain). It's highly possible that I may do some of 75+ in the meantime, but the loss of my source for the high-bitrate FUNi/Faulconer track is annoying.
No worries, take your time man. The quality you're releasing is definitely worth the wait.
This torrent isn't working for me, it's just endlessly loading and hasn't even started.

User
@iKaos - you have inspired me - I have successfully re-synced the funimation english (Nathan Johnson score) to the R2J Japanese 2003 dragon box (also includes the broadcast audio) the source is from winxbloom1980s release and I do have the individual audio files saved in a separate folder as well that people can manually use to sync if they so choose. I have made it so far through episodes 45 - 59 (I also synced episode 199 goku vs pikkon for fun lol) Do you happen to have a discord? I don't know how to share this with anyone to get an opinion and I would like some advice if you have any willing to provide. If you don't have a discord can I contact through here or email? edit @ 4:12 PM: I don't see a messaging IM service on this site so i dont know edit @ 4:16 do you have a torrent link to the english dragon boxes? I cannot find one other then the shitty DBNL encode and I want to have just for collector purposes also where can i find the retimed Japanese Mono Broadcast Audio - as originally released by WinxBloom1980 (all episodes use the re-timed versions by Team Mirolo) <---?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@n12 I do check the comments somewhat regularly, but you can contact me through the email address listed at the top. Feel free to send me an episode and I'll provide feedback. You can also upload to MEGA and share the link. What is your source for the English replacement score? I have 1-74 in FLAC from the Blu-Rays but after that I only have the audio for that track from the old DHD encodes since it's not on the Dragon Box. If you have something in better quality I'd love to take a look at it. I do have the English Dragon Boxes but I got them off of Usenet. The Team Mirolo re-sync is on yggtorrents - it's a French release but they took the WinxBloom audio and fixed some errors. The BA though has been superseded in quality by the AnimeMaakuo BA, however no one has done anything with it yet (although I will on all future releases regardless of whether or not I have to sync it manually).

User
@iKaos I sent you an email with my episode 199 sync - the audio was from the 2014 bluray so it was NOT the funimation 1999 DVD audio but the remastered dub (still with falcouner score) from I believe the orange bricks originally (2007...?) CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME SEED THIS TORRENT https://nyaa.si/view/933629 I am trying to acquire the funimation audio from these dvds but its going to take me forever. I will be forever grateful if you could temporary help me seed this torrent!
Hey, iKaos. It's been so long. When will you be back? Dragon box episodes were amazing, especially their sound quality. Also, you might wanna know that there are a couple of episodes whose sounds are little out of sync in Season 1? Such as Ep1 and maybe Ep3 or Ep5 in Kikuchi English dub?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@ab8895 Thanks. I haven't gone anywhere - I have been taking my time working on a v3 season 1 batch with the newer Broadcast Audio and some snyc corrections, like the ones you mentioned.
Oh, great. You take your time. I didn't read the previous comments before so I thought you must be working on Frieza Saga. Damn, I was hoping to see Goku transforming into SSJ in Dragon Box quality and in high sound quality. Blu-ray sucks! Before your releases, I didn't even know about the Dragon Boxes and Level Sets. I was happy when I finally got Blu-ray version until I saw your releases LOL. It's hard to go back to Blu-ray now. I hope you get your best version of DBZ soon. That way I'll get mine too :)
Any thoughts on FUNimation's announcement of the new box sets? Will you re-release everything again? Because it sounds like this'll be on par with the Level Sets for the entire 291 episodes.

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Eckhart At this point I won't believe anything remastered that FUNimation puts out will be any better than what we got with the season sets until someone physically has the discs. If they are of actual quality, then who knows. For now I'm concentrating on what we have.
@iKaos If you need DVD ISOs for Dragon Ball (from the JP Dragon Box) and Dragon Ball Z (from the US Dragon Box) I'm trying now to download them (and upload them on MEGA eventually), I have the Amazon remastered Movies for Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball's remastered Movies too from Toei and I have the entire [GTeam]'s Dragon Ball GT Japanese Broadcast Audio. If you have a Discord Account would be better to talk there about this (so that I won't spam with comments here, and I don't want to put the links here because they can get DMCA claims) =)))))

@ShinMugetsu2000 I appreciate the offer but I do have those sources already. What I'm missing is something that has the Faulconer Productions music - so either the Orange Bricks or ISOs for the Blu-Rays (which would get quite large). I may have found a source that works although I have thoroughly researched yet as I'm working on my Season 1 stuff. Thank you though.
@iKaos we appreciate your great efforts but some or all episodes have muffled audio, I mean the audio decreases and the increases suddenly, which means there is no balance. Maybe because you 've used multiple audios so I recommend you to cancel ocean audio to solve that problem. you may remove Original Funimation dub too if it's needed . + @ShinMugetsu2000 I want US Dragon Box ISO, so please give me the links here ^^ or you can send it through my email : boranraw@gmail.com and thank you .
@iKaos do you plan to release the next episodes?I really like the cleaned up version of the broadcast audio.

@The-good_Man1994 I haven't touched the volume of any of the audios at all. I did notice that the Original FUNi dub has pretty bad mastering in terms of volume, but I didn't mess with it. It shouldn't matter how many audios I have - balance should be unaffected. @ergiman Still working on Season 1 - A couple of weeks away. A lot of work going on in real life so progress has slowed lately, but I'm still working on it. I will progress with Season 3 before I re-do Season 2, however.
