### This torrent is obsolete, please go here for the new one: [1170280](https://nyaa.si/view/1170280) *** **Updates:** 1. Started using a better quality version of the ZENKAI Power ED for the Ocean track, because why not? v2s of the first ten episodes will have this as well in the batch release. 2. Next release should wrap up the Ocean episodes. I'll probably sync the edited Movie 3 dub as well to round out the Ocean dub. Movies 1-2 were already done by Pendekar. 3. The release after that will wrap up this "season" and also contain the Bardock special. *** *These episodes are compiled from the following sources. Unless otherwise specified, I am the original encoder for all elements:* **Video:** 4x3 480p R1/US Dragon Box - *from raw ISOs* **Audio - 4 tracks:** 1. Japanese Mono Broadcast Audio - *as originally released by WinxBloom1980 (all episodes use the re-timed versions by Team Mirolo)* 2. English 2007 5.1 FUNimation "Remastered" Dub w/Shunsuke Kikuchi score - *from the R1/US Dragon Box* 3. English 2005 2.0 FUNimation "Ultimate Uncut" Dub w/Nathan Johnson score - *from the "Season" Blu-Rays* 4. English 1997/1998 2.0 Saban/Ocean Dub - *A re-creation of the original English dub, custom made by me, with gaps filled in with the FUNi/Kikuchi dub in an attempt to create a relatively seamless nostalgic viewing experience. Sourced from the "Rock The Dragon" DVD Set* [MediaInfo](https://pastebin.com/zNevkZdd) *** **FAQ (mostly from comments of previous videos):** 1. **What is this?** A release of Dragon Ball Z that meets my visual and audio requirements, that I'm also sharing here with you. I release in small chunks followed by a large batch release at the end of each "season". 2. **Who are you?** I'm a semi-professional video editor doing this for fun. Like most people of a certain age I grew up with the show on Toonami but came to appreciate the original Japanese version as being the far superior version of the show. Nevertheless, I have a nostalgic attachment to the older English dubs and want to preserve them with the best video quality available. I am not happy with other releases of the Dragon Box because they are either bit-starved or have inferior audio options. 3. **Why not the R2J Dragon Box?** I ran a lot of tests with the Japanese Dragon Box, and while the quality is a bit better than the US Dragon Box, it's not worth it to me to re-sync every other audio track manually for the next 250 episodes. If you want to write me a script that will take my audio files and line them up with R2J footage, I'll gladly use that instead. Until then, here we are. 4. **Why don't you do (insert different encoding settings here)?** I'm good with these, thanks. Granted I'm not a professional so if there's something blatantly obvious that I'm missing, suggest away. 5. **How much of the series are you doing?** I plan on releasing the whole series. All episodes will have the Ocean Dub track through episode 67, and from there I will replace the track with the original 1999 FUNi dub, in all of its nostalgic glory. I have no plans to do any other Dragon Ball series or movies, although I will cover the TV specials when I get to the episodes they aired between. Thanks to everyone here who provides feedback and support.

Once you start using the original dub from the original english broadcast, what are you going to use for the intro? because I have a suggestion, if you haven't heard/thought of it
^ I meant the initial Funimation dub after the ocean dub

@thepunisher I was going to stick with the Rock The Dragon theme until the end of the Freeza episodes (as they originally aired), then switch to an extended version of the Faulconer Productions Intro (which I'd probably have to create) for Garlic Jr +.
Ah. I tried making an extended version of the Faulconer intro, its tedious and it hardly fits with the visuals. I wanted to recommend you this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvnSHdfrlXs It's a cover of the Faulconer intro that was used in the first Broly movie
Hey man you get nothing but love from me but could you use R2J Dragon Box or any other rips instead of this current ones? hell even the blurays would be fine because these are really not on par with your previous work.
i think it looks fine, not as good as the level releases for obvious reasons but still amazing

User
@thepunisher Thanks, I may have to use that one if I can't fiddle enough with the original to extend its length. I haven't tried it yet though. Matching with the visuals is less important - let's be honest, Rock the Dragon barely works as it is. @Eckhart Appreciate the feedback, but I used the exact same settings as the last release. While I do notice a slight difference in quality between the R2J and the R1US, it's not really enough to warrant having to manually sync all 4 tracks instead of just 1. Either way whatever differences you're noticing will likely be present in the R2J as well since it's basically the same transfer. I'm not touching the "Season" Blu Ray's smudged lines and blurry details with a ten-foot pole. Without level sets, the both Dragon Boxes are the best we're going to get.
Okay. Just in case you do decide to use the Broly intro, I emailed you two versions of it (The only difference between the two is that for one of them there's an explosion and flame sound at the end for when Goku goes Super Saiyan, while the other one doesn't so it's usable for the Buu arc)
@iKaos Your releases are AMAZING man! Love them! Please keep them up. I have one favor to ask though. Can you please tell me which releases you consider best and would recommend for the rest of the franchise (DB, DBGT, DB Kai, DBS, Heroes and all of the movies, TV Specials, OVAs)?

@Yusei573 I can tell you what I have - I don't know what qualifies as best for you but what I have works for me. I only collect dual-audio. For DB, Pendekar is releasing what I consider the definitive release (https://nyaa.si/view/1076664). They have only done half the series and just recently started over with better quality encodes. Other than that I think the only complete option is DBNL which is... not great. For Kai I think the only complete for 1-98 is DHD (https://nyaa.si/view/490256). I'm contemplating doing my own encode for the latter half of the series with the Yamamoto revival score, but that would be... very far from now. For Kai TFC I have ColdFusion's 720 release as they minimized the green tint (https://nyaa.si/view/933676). For Super I have the iAHD encodes for the BDs (https://nyaa.si/view/933676) and the KaiDubs encodes for new English episodes as they're released. Movies/specials Pendekar is also the best (https://nyaa.si/view/967844, https://nyaa.si/view/1019978). There's also the new 1080p AMZN rips in raw (https://nyaa.si/view/1063112). I've never cared for GT so I don't have that one - a quick look suggests RH is the only complete one in decent quality (https://nyaa.si/view/923093). GTeam is releasing the series with Broadcast Audio, but I believe no dub (https://nyaa.si/view/1043186). I also haven't gotten around to Heroes yet.
Thank you iKaos for this amazing release @Yusei573, you can get Dragon Ball GT episodes from KAMETSU (https://kametsu.com/topic/63542-ecio-dragon-ball-gt-dragon-box-gt-r2j-dvd-tri-audiow-japanese-broadcast-audio/) DDL (https://mega.nz/#F!xjQRyYqJ!UjdPuB35nI1VX5-OrPMGxw) This is the Dragon Ball GT encode which was uploaded a while back by [Ecio] and due to high demand of these encodes, Kakarot Manrai (in kametsu) re-upload his work with slight modifications.
Could you please continue after episode 67 starting with episode 68 the English 1997/1998 2.0 Saban/Ocean Dub instead of the Funimation single sets Dub . That dub was never synced to Dragon Box footage .Pretty Please . Thank you and looking forward for your reply.

@SimonCowell There is no Saban/Ocean dub after 67 - in fact it actually ends abruptly in the middle of 67, as you'll find out in the next release. FUNi switched to their in-house production staff in 1999 and dubbed the rest of the episodes (including the second half of 67) themselves. This is the dub that I'll be syncing to the Dragon Box, since it's been replaced by FUNi's own Remastered Dub on everything released after 2005. There is a Westwood/Ocean dub that starts in the Trunks episodes, but the quality on that one is far inferior (both in acting and actual audio quality, from what I've heard) to the earlier Ocean dub, and I don't plan on including it.

@thepunisher Grabbing it, will use in the upcoming (this week!) releases and the season 2 batch. I'm about 50/50 at this point if I'll do season 1 again.
I'm excited for the next release! and maybe you can just put season 1's audio on google drive or mega instead of having to redo it?
@iKaos I wouldn't blame you for not bothering to include anything outside of FUNi's initial releases from the 90's early 2000's. Ocean Studio's dub was just never that good without Peter Kelamis I'm glad you did do the original ocean dub back from how it was on Toonami because thats the only dub that matters for nostalgic purposes but anything beyond that for the Canadian group is not necessary. Btw what program do you use to sync these? I kind of want to do my own with InuYasha
It seems now that the new BA release isn't actually the real thing, just flac versions of whats already been released

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Eckhart I use Adobe Premiere to line up all the audio, with the video track as a basic guide. @thepunisher Yeah I was wondering why the file size is so small for FLAC. Back to the old source it is.
it really bummed me out. but oh well. oh and I wanted to ask a random question - so, I really like the subtitles you use on these releases. Are subs exactly like these available for DB, GT and/or the movies? if not, would you happen to know how I can somehow make already existing subtitle files have the same font, size, etc.?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@thepunisher the subs are just direct .ass conversions from the DVD subs. I found them in a comment chain on here somewhere awhile ago but cannot remember where. In theory if you convert the DVD subs of whatever FUNi release to .ass it should come out the same. I use Aegisub to tweak subtitles as it has a lot of customization options.
oh ok. I downloaded Aegisub. if i wanted to try and make pendekar's .ass subs look like these, how could I do that?
Nevermind, figured it out. Also, the actual lossless BA is here https://mega.nz/#F!uBd1RIgY!Q5RwF4P-R7DmmCINMxHMIQ (got it from https://nyaa.si/view/1092630) edit: seems they all lack the opening and ending themes. sigh

@thepunisher I'm getting both sources (I fortunately have a lot of drive space) and will run tests to see which sounds better. It's incredibly hard to read through all the drama BS that comes along with every BA upload so I'll make my own conclusions. If the quality is better than WinxBloom then I have to use it - although it'll slow my releases down as it looks like I have to sync the audio manually. Perhaps I'll go back to the R2J. We will see.
