We use CRF 18, a high-quality bitrate setting that is a standard recommendation on Doom9 (the expert encoding forum). Rest assured that this video will look perfectly fine even when watched closely on a large screen. CRF 18 avoids pointlessly bloating bitrate for virtually no gain, so you get a great balance of quality and size.
[Audio quality]
This encode uses FLAC, which is lossless but also very large. For virtually the same quality at a much lower filesize, download our [Small] encode instead, which uses lossy AAC encoding to strike a better balance. (The video in both encodes is identical.) [Small]: https://nyaa.si/view/1046393

@MrSerape It's not simply preference, implementing psychickitten's suggestions would do a lot to make it sound more natural, using proper English grammar.
Having a native English speaker or someone on a similar proficiency level review the subs is always a good idea I'd say.

Only thing is that the next version is going to be the one with KFX added this was a pre release as it did take longer than expected, I did not say this as this was to just get out the main kinks.

Hi Nep, just want to preface that I mean no flame or anything (I don't know anything about video or audio files), I just had a question or two. So I have Coalgirls release of this but it's nearly twice the size. How is yours able to be so much smaller? I have a big collection of my animes and just trying to min-max space and you have many uploads that I'd like to grab with such smaller sizes from the originals but am wondering if I'm losing anything such as quality or such, plus ya'll even have more than one fansub so really you include even more than the original but with a smaller size; How is this done?
forgot to look at this situation from the other side. Is your file size pretty normal and the coalgirls upload just irregularly large for no reason? Comparing the two, there doesn’t seem to be any difference (crf18, flac, etc).
@honey, I achieve this with x265 and well that is a way more superior compression codec, x264 with bloat settings, aka from coalbloat is not helping a thing.
Their excuse is "Archive quality", but for most users smaller files with good and more than acceptable quality is more helpfull.
Saying that I have smaller versions around also to have it smaller than this one.
Coalbloat also just bloats the files to oblivion, and I think they used crf 16 for this.
