Piyo-Piyo Productions presents:
Geba Geba Show Time (INCOMPLETE, SEE NOTES BELOW)
Everything PPP-Raw releases is from laserdisc source. At the time of ripping, no DVD or Bluray souce is known to exist.
This was the last disc out of the second batch of discs that were purchased by Orphan for capture. Unfortunately, the disc is damaged. I am releasing what I managed to caputre (most of it), because its better than what’s out there currently, which is nothing at all.
Geba Geba Show Time is in a style that is more like Western art than what we usually think of as “anime.” It has no dialogue whatsoever, and no plot. Its just this weird little guy who has wacky strange comedic situations, which last maybe 30 seconds to a minute each.
The disc damage wasn’t immediately apparent, but while capturing, I noticed th at rot was setting in as the disc progressed, and later I noticed that the picture seemed to be frozen. I checked to make sure my capture program had not crashed, and then saw that the LD player itself was desperately skipping back and forth between several frames. I tried fast-forwarding a little bit, but this caused the player to make an unhealthy clicking sound. I ejected the disc to have a good look at it, and on closer inspection while holding it up to light, I saw the damage to the underlying foil layer. If it were a CLV disk, the player may have been able to compensate, but its a CAV disk, so that’s that.
According to the jacket the total runtime is 30 minutes, and the freezing and skipping begins to happen 25 minutes in, so most of it is here, but as it is incomplete I have not bothered with filtering or an h264 conversion.
