Part 1 (1-6): [#997320](https://nyaa.si/view/997320) Part 2 (7-12): [#1002398](https://nyaa.si/view/1002398) Part 3 (13-18): [#1009867](https://nyaa.si/view/1009867) Part 4 (19-24) [#1012798](https://nyaa.si/view/1012798) **Updates for part 5:** 1. Episode 28 retains the track "Mashinki no Nemuri Hime" on the FUNi/Kikuchi track. This song is not on the official release due to rights issues, but I mixed it back in. 2. These small releases will continue until I hit 39, at which point I will make one large batch for this "season". I'll then probably take a break to figure out what viable options I have going forward with regards to the Dragon Box footage. *I’m currently creating what I consider to be a “perfect” version of DBZ by combining the best quality video with the most American English dub options available, for both nostalgic and completionist purposes. I figured I’d share what I’ve done so far with others. Most elements from this torrent come from other uploaders as mentioned below. This is a WIP - I can share more episodes once I complete them.* **Video:** English Level Set Blu-Rays - these Blu-Rays feature proper 4:3 aspect ratio and solid remastering, unlike the crappier season sets. Unfortunately this source stops at episode ~~34~~ 39, so if I continue past that point, I’ll switch to Dragon Boxes. (source: Grupa Mirai) **Audio - 4 tracks:** Japanese Mono Broadcast Audio (source: WinxBloom1980) English 5.1 2005 FUNimation Remastered Dub w/ Kikuchi score (source: my own Dragon Box) English 2.0 2005 FUNimation Remastered Dub w/ Nathan Johnson replacement score (source: DHD) English 2.0 1997 Saban/Ocean Dub (source: ISOs provided by omar1st with my own edits to sync*) Those of you familiar with the original Ocean Studios dub of DBZ know that it was rather heavily edited (the first 53 English episodes correspond to the first 67 original episodes), and so I have attempted to re-sync the audio to the best of my ability, filling in the gaps with the FUNi dub. Comments and feedback are welcome. *Thanks to Deli295 for his HQ rip of the "Rock the Dragon" Theme. [MediaInfo](https://pastebin.com/ByrNiANa)

"I’m currently creating what I consider to be a “perfect” version of DBZ". Hmmm....that's a hard question considering so many of us have our own versions in mind. Personally, the definitive version of DBZ is Ocean dubs follow by FUNi's original dub (not the one where they go back and remaster it without Bruce Faulconer. I'm curious to see if you do go beyond 39 episodes, if you'll do so with the remaster version of the the latter part of the Freiza saga or the original FUNimation dub. I'm sure by that point your work would be easier, but at the same time I can also understand if you choose not to do it considering we have the Blurays. After the Freiza saga, FUNimation keeps the original dub intact for the blurays in regards to the Garlic Jr saga and onward towards the last episode. However some people hate the Blurays for cutting some of the screen and not being 4:3. Regardless, thank you once again for this release!
For a perfect release I'd have envisioned using lossless copies of the episodes with lossless audios of it (unless one or the other wasn't available and had to use the compressed version), and along those lines. It would for sure take a ton of space but better always to go with quality over quantity. Even making raw backups of DVDs isn't of much use these days but rather extract the video/audio files and keep them in that order like I do myself. Same goes for Blu-rays, just way more convenient. It's the same product except it's tidied up and organized. ^_^
Lossless DBZ Level 1.1 and 1.2 Blu-ray - Episodes 001~034 Xbox LIVE Captured DBZ Level 2.1 - Episodes 035~039 Lossless DBZ Dragon Box R2J DVD - Episodes 040~291 This is the order I’d go with. I don’t know much about Grupa Mirai’s encoded episodes but the raws are usually a better source to go with.
One last thing, the Artificial Human arc through Majin Boo arc dub of the "Ocean Dub" was actually made by Westwood as some know and I'd not dare to call it Ocean Dub because that dub was horseshit. The original Ocean Dub ended on the Namek arc with a glimpse of what Ocean Freeza would have sounded like.

If I had raws for the levels I'd use them - to me this is better than nothing. Hence the quotes around "perfect". I'll use your versions for 35-39 and will *probably* go with R2J DVDs for 40+. It's really just a time thing for me. @Eckhart 67+ (if I get there before someone like Pendekar comes by and releases everything in better quality) will have both the 2005 remastered and the 1999 original FUNi dubs for at least the Freeza episodes. After that the only thing different in the remastered version is the narrator. I'm not touching the Westwood dub. I dislike everything visual about the "Season" Blu-Rays, and if someone wants those they are readily available here.
I'd not mind helping you with Level Blu-rays 1.1 and 1.2 and even if you'd like the R1 Dragon Box Z but I'm quite strapped on time so I won't be able to do that. About the XBL Level 2.1 episodes, Arian and DragoonClawNZ worked on capping that while I just uploaded it freely to Nyaa so I can't quite take credit for that. :P The original custom Blu-ray of this was 20GB large but with only Japanese audio on them, it came down to 14GB so a save on space while not losing any quality in the process. It originally featured the FUNi dubs with the US music and JP music, without it, it dropped to 14GB.
Pendekar ? I'm not familiar with him. Do they upload on here or some other website? and can you link me to their stuff so far? I tried looking but couldn't find em
Pendekar has an account on nyaa and has been uploading dragon box releases of dragon ball and I think will be uploading dbz in dragon box quality back from the toonami days. For me, the definitive release would be dragon box quality video with toonami's audio as the default and Japanese audio as a secondary option.

@Eckhart Pendekar (just search up in the search box) uploads high quality Dragon Box rips with many English dubs synced to them. So far they've done about half of DB and all movies for DB and DBZ. Their plan is to eventually cover DBZ with both Japanese DVD and broadcast audio, both original and remastered FUNi dubs, and an Ocean dub edit similar to mine. They have more resources than I do so I assume they'll eventually pass me up. @Super_Saiyan_Lusitano add 85 to the beginning of my user name @ gmail if you feel like sharing level sets. I will use them for the v2 set if something comes of it.
Eckhart @ https://nyaa.si/view/1019978 iKaos @ I'm currently somewhere else where I don't have those Blu-rays with me and as I had said, I unfortunately will not be able to share due to limited time availability. I do have have a cool FUNimation music batch coming up which I'll upload once I'm done with DB Movie 3.
@ iKaos I have the level set raws and they don't look as good as the encode that was done by grupa to me but i might of had to many filter running thru my 1080ti with madvr but if you feel like you can make it look better go for it I will link you them. Also I have the original 20 gig file for xbmc eps 35 - 39 I took them down off my mega recently because i needed space but I can put them back up if you need them still. https://mega.nz/#F!YeIDnIbS!kL-JBl_9gmLV9HO0y9gAqg https://mega.nz/#F!VHoQGA7Z!jjsv-_Avaj34OZsOnUHaxg https://mega.nz/#F!si5FTJJT!xrf7XI_W19RJ1uBLpon4sA https://mega.nz/#F!9LZGyBTQ!uQVWvY199ucAm-6n7A1y4w Everyone please don't report this as i don't know any other source to find these it was very hard to get.
~~~ @ iKaos I have the level set raws and they don’t look as good as the encode that was done by grupa to me ~~~ So I take it "don't look as good as the encode" means Grupa Mirai removed all of the grain and therefore it's somehow better. Changing the colors is one thing but removing the grain should not be done as picture detail is bound to be lost in the process of such.
~~~ Also I have the original 20 gig file for xbmc eps 35 - 39 I took them down off my mega recently because i needed space but I can put them back up if you need them still. ~~~ I've uploaded that to Nyaa before but with only the Japanese audio which made it decrease from 20GB to 14GB. The FUNi English dub audios were for sure heavy on space.
@ Super_Saiyan_Lusitano I have nothing against grain i think its comes down to the person also. I use madvr heavy filter sharpness post processing on all my shows case i like it very crisp now the grain might make it worse or better guess its a hit or miss you know. I am in the process of grabbing every bdremux of every gundam show right now its gonna be the largest file on nyaa when i get done with getting everything. For me tho I only am going to use dub as I will never use jap audio unless there is no eng audio then i will watch it regardless. Between me and you tho I want the best picture quality i can get.
I'm not against the removal of grain but I'm okay with it, Dragon Ball Kai looks great without grain but I'd just prefer for a distributor to not mess around DNR'ing a show just to make it "better" if they're not going to do it properly. The Spanish release by Selecta Vision of Dragon Ball Z looks really good which is based on Dragon Box but the colors are so inconsistent (not something I'd really be too fussed about while watching unless it's DBK Final Chapters where Toei really fucked up), yet they handled the grain removal really well. Anyway, I'm patiently waiting for Ocean Dub Kai to premiere on Canadian TV because that's the English dub I've been waiting for. Ocean Dub for Saiyan arc - Namek arc was fantastic in my opinion but they didn't do anything else in regards to the series beyond that (nah, the Westwood dub was horseshit). I love the Ocean Dub of DBZ Movies 1-3 and especially the second movie where Kelamis sounds nearly identical to the original Goku!
I checked out Pendekar and while I'm happy he is also undertaking this task, I'm just not interested in Dragon Ball as much. My childhood was Z all the way. Unfortunately the blurays have a weird cropping problem and the image seems to have a seizure and moves so randomly.
Hello, I have managed to sync the leaked Original Broadcast Audio with the R2j lossless video of episodes 148 to 171 using Audacity. It's not that hard, actually. The only part that the audio is actually shorter is the opening audio. Besides some minor fluctuations, the rest if only shifted between the chapters of the episode. Here's a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szOzTTgXQ9M (the uploaded video's color was corrected by adjusting the hue to -10 in VLC. The actual files aren't color corrected)
your the man, was about to make my one multi audio till i found yours, please dont drop the Johnson audio, takes me back to watching old school toonami, also theres supposedly theres another dub funimation did to continue dbz after its revival prior to the 2005 dub, if anyone has it also if you were to drop a patrion link or some kinda donate button im pretty sure theres a bunch of people whod flip you a few bucks for your troubles, myself included, keep up the great work man
