Weeaboo Shogun Presents
Transformable Shinkansen Robot Shinkalion 10
Hide!! Shinkalion E3 Tsubasa
A Giant Monstrous Being appears in Yamagata Prefecture, and due to the Mini Shinkansen track configuration, only Akita can successfully get there. While Hayato and Tsuranuki take make-up tests, Akita heads off on his own. But the Giant Monstrous Being proves to be far too strong for him to handle. At the last second, Akita is saved by... a never before seen Shinkalion?!
I didn't have a stroke midway through this episode or decide to play a prank. Shinobu begins to talk to Akita using the regional Tohoku dialect, which is something the two characters share, what with coming from neighboring prefectures. I tried to represent that in the text. I thought it was important, because it's how they kind of bond. Tohoku dialect is perceived as -very- provincial. if there were a Japanese equivalent to 'hillbilly' this might be it. Though I guess with Tohoku it's more of 'mountainbilly'. Many people from those areas take care to hide their local accent, and it seems Akita usually does too.
"Matagi" is a presumably Ainu term, a type of traditional winter mountain hunter still found in colder parts of Japan. They wear specialized hunter costumes to aid in the hunt. As mentioned, the word seems to originate from the Ainu, the native northern tribal population of Japan.
